I'd forgotten about it but while cleaing up yesterday afternoon found an email I sent them. I asked about the price in both SS and Ti and if they'd guarantee (within reason) the increase that's being claimed. It's been almost 2 weeks and I haven't heard back from them.

any more news on this exhaust mod?

I've just read this for the first time and it sounds interesting. So a Y pipe and muffler for 18rwkw?

Over the last couple of weeks I've sent Lambros a couple of emails with no response?

As far as the power increase someone has actually dynoed the car so I cant see why it wouldnt give the power gain (or close to) it to all.

I believe the SS version was abou $1100 but that was a long time ago and I'm not sure if anything has changed.

I'm about to receive the new SS Y-Pipe from Lambros to add to the existing rear muffler, this will complete the my car with the Cat back SS system that HiTech has developed for the 350Z. I will be get the car dynoed to confirm nismor33 findings and get an average to the two test cars. Lambros has indicated that the SS Cat Back System will cost around $1800 retail and will be available discounted for a group buy, still to be worked out depending on numbers. I will post the results as soon as I've fitted the new Y-Pipe and dyno the car along with my impressions.

Regards Lambros getting back to you, he finds computers not to friendly plus his factory was broken into late last week so he been very busy with that drama.

I'll be interested to see the reults David. IIRC you only got 5rwkw from the muffler whereas NismoR33 got 14rwkw. That's a big discrepancy IMO.

While I'm sorry to hear about the break in it's been more than 3 weeks since I contacted them. If they don't want to respond to customers via email they shouldn't provide an email contact IMO.

I've since spoken to a number of people whio I consider to be in the know and I've been turned off their products. I stand ready to be convinced otherwise.

apsilon -- I'm with you

That is a huge difference as I have mentioned before.
Someone convince me otherwise please.
Nissan want $2400 for their muffler (not fitted)
Thats a joke, but a good alternative is not on our market yet IMO

Just out of interest the Amuse system which looks and sounds fantastic IMO is ~AUD$3500 delivered from Japanparts. The Z is fairly heavy so I want to cut as much weight from it as possible so I have a strong preference for Ti currently despite the cost.

I might go and speak to a guy Sat and see what he has to say. He has the facilities to do Ti fab but I'm not sure about the can itself. If he can come up with something I may do a custom setup. His work is good enough to hang as art.

Guys y dont u simply order the Borla True Dual exhaust from US......nicest sounding exhaust for the Z ive heard so far, not boomy and quite Euro exotic sounding. Its only $720 US, so thats about $1200 AUS with GST, add another $300 MAX for shipping, and it looks like a reasonably priced exhaust system.

I've read that the Borla is only good for 5rwHP - not even kw.
That's fairly low performance for a fair amount of dough, though, no?

No the borla true twin exhaust is 18-20rwhp.... it's pretty good BUT if there is something local i'd rather support our local industry or else we won't get anything going for the 350z.

But I will be importing a borla if nothing pops up by the end of the year. By then i'll have decided to either go NA or FI.

There much better numbers. I also am waiting until the end of the year before adding any mods. If the local guys can do the same as Borla for the same money, I've got no problems buying local content.
I'm not a tech head, so riddle me this Batman.
Do you need a specific aftermarket exhaust system to match with a Turbo or supercharger for maximum performance, or can you bolt on any AM exhaust that frees up the breathing and then add the turbo???

I'm under the impression that with FI you need as very very good flow but with a NA settup you will require a certain amount of backpressure depending on the power and torque you want to achieve.

A good exhaust like the Borla should be fine for a SC or turbo but probably not optimal.

I'm no expert so maybe someone can add the techo-speak version here.

yeap the Borla is around 10-15 hp. Its a complete dual system from the cats back, and for one and a half grand, that constitutes great value in my book. Given the Hitech system is just a muffler replacement for similar money, only adds to the Borla bargain.

the exhause retails from Borla at 850 USD. I've seen it at low as 630USD.

There was a group buy for it if i remember, dunno if it's come and gone though!

Hey guys,

I have not been on the forum too much of late so tardy reply.

The dyno run that I did was nearly the same as what Nathan found on his Z so that was very positive. Keep in mind the way Dave tested his muffler was very different in that he drove his Z with the HiTech muffler fitted and then changed back to stock, did the dyno run and then went back to Hi Tech and ran again.

Thats not the same as a proper run with the ECU running with the stock for a while. Thats why he is re-testing.

This is the first HiTech system I have used and after many years buying Nismo, Apexi and other locally produced products I think its great. Again I dont have anything to do with HiTech, looked around for a system and after speaking to Dave on the list re his experience went to see them. I also took it to the dyno myself.

Anyway two Zeds nearly have the same dyno figures so its up to you which way you go. I am also happy for the Sydney people to see it and go for a ride. If someone wants to pay for a dyno run I am more than happy to put the car on the rollers.

Again up to you. In terms of price of the ypipe and muffler this is making the same figures as those in the US that cost big $$$

I too am interested in a good exhaust and am glad that this thread has started up again.

My thoughts are to import from the US an Injen intake $200, Plenum $400, Borla exhaust $620 and TechnoSquare ECU upgrade (which is just about due for release) $500 est. All $ are USD. Better intake, more air to all cylinders, good exhaust and ability to make full use of 98 RON fuel.

All four options should land in Oz for between $3k & $3.5k including freight and duty, and hopefully will be good for at least 20kw - 25kw which should take us to around 230kw, which sounds much better.

The ECU upgrades can be arranged via DHL and if we can get a few people iterested, shipping and clearance costs can be minimized for the rest of the stuff.

Although these mods will not put us in the big power league such as from an FI upgrade, hopefully the drivability and reliability will be maintained.

Any interest in doing something on Saturday? Wouldnt mind going for a bit of a drive rather than watching dyno run after dyno run.

Also if we want to get a power run, a dyno day is not the day to do it . I saw some of the figures the last time they had one....hang on maybe we should do it then and get better numbers

Might by a gtech until the weather is better and we can get to eastern creak and get real power numbers that way.
