I am a big fan of APEXi products. My Skyline was like a catalogue!! I liked it over HKS as I found they did not drone and sound awesome. preference I guess....

To be honest when they release something, if its dual system I might get that. I also agree you cant beat the japanese systems for look, sound, power.

I heard though that APEXi is bankrupt and wont be around past July. How will we get an Power FC now??

Are you sure about this ? I will ask around and see if I can find out. I know that Apexi was bought our or had a cash injection but cannot remember the details.

Yes I do agree with apexi products. Having a Apexi turbo, Apexi GT front mount and Power Fc in my WRX I was like a pig in mud.

Yeah thats what I was told by an importer of APEXi products. I am trying to find out also. Apparantly they could not order! Hope it was not true!

The US website states they are developing parts for 350Z including dampers and N1 exhaust system.

I had Apexi 550cc injectors, Power FC, AVC-R boost controller, cooler, Apexi bov, N1 exhaust system. All straight bolt on and perfect quality. Wish I had that power back!

Mr RIZK

There are two Plenums "on the go".

The first one is the Crawford plenum which sells for $400 and is available now. Dynos confirm good results. Maybe 10 - 12hp.
This one is a cut and weld job of an existing plenum by inserting an extra piece. The modification gives more room to the front of the plenum to allow more air. This mod also requires a new strut bar, about $150 I think. You pay a plug deposit of around $200 which is refunded when your existing plenum is returned.

The second one is due for release soon. Contact, Jays350Z. No price yet but it does not require a new strut bar, and is a new casting and therefore no need to return the old one.

Mike,
Why would you get different results ona "dyno day" than any other day unless you think they're changing the calibration just for that day?

Malcolm,
Is there a thread about this other intake? Results aside the crawford one looks like a home handyman welded it up.

Last run a few cars that went on had VERY different results to normal so it made me a little sceptical thats all.

OK

Were these different results on the same dyno or comparing results between different dynos? I've seen a 60rwhp difference between dynos for the same car on the same day

now you know why i purchased the g-tech pro. The dynos are just as variable as any other test gear.

anyway back to the topic of exhaust.

Does anyone think we can get a local made Titanium exhaust? The weight saving plus the power would be amazing.

The Hitech one is supposed to be available in a Ti version but appareently unless you turn up at their shop you won't get any information out of them.

I'm going to speak to someone on the weekend about a custom Ti one. If there's interest I'll find out about a possible price reduction.

Yeah I agree Apsilon thats for sure. I actually went to one dyno day in perth and that was crazy! Numbers were just plain stupid.

Check your messages.

In terms of a titanium exhaust I heard HiTech were going to look at that. Not sure though. I am sure if people asked it would happen.

Update

Ok ! as this thread was started by me this is the lastest info. I've spoken with Lambros and the situation with Titanium is getting the right grade of Ti, he does not want to make a muti welded exhaust like the Amuse Ti R1 system ( its made of multi welded section not a nice mandral bend) so as soon as he has got a good supply of Ti the system will be available. The SS system is around $1800 for the full catback system that's the Y-Pipe plus rear muffler section, the Y-pipe is dual pipe till it reaches the rear muffler section and the muffler only is $1100.

Like Mike I love the sound output of this combination very European sounding

So as soon as I have the Y-pipe fitted and have dynoed it, Nathan and Mike's car are the only two that have simular dyno numbers and like Mike I have no invested interest in HiTech just trying the help in developing a local product for the 350Z.

Zuffy
I must correct a missconception you have.
Titanium exhaust can not give you more power only lighter weight than the same system in stainless or mild steel.
The reason Hi Tech has not produced a Ti system is because you can not machine press Ti in a tube bender, it must be done in a mandrell bender.
Lambros has a mandrel bender but you have to use the right wall thickness pipe & this is not available at the moment.
95% of all exhaust shops use a press pipe bender to bend there pipes & buy in mandrel bends & weld them together to get the right shape if the cutomer wants only mandrel bent.
All mass produced extactors & pipes are manufactured by press benders.
Now heres a good exercise to do with that new G tech you have got. Do a run & measure then add 25 kg to the car & do the run again. Then decide if the difference is worth the cost a full Ti system will set you back.

I think Zuffy was referring to the power from changing the exhaust, not from using Ti. The weight saving of the exhaust alone may not make a huge difference but every bit helps.

The Z has ~15rwkw more power than my old MX-5 but also 500kg more. The Z is a LOT slower the the MX-5 was.

FWIW the place I'll be talking to isn't an exhuast shop but it's not hard to find a palce with a mandrel bender. It is hard to find someone who can weld properly and even more so where Ti is concerned.

Nathan, did you get my PM?

lol Nathan how did you read that into what i wrote !

As Apsilon said... the power upgrade from the new mod plus the reduced weight would be a double gain. I know it's not huge (weight reduction) but every last bit helps.

It's rather funny how text can be misread though... but does anyone actualy believe that Ti would boost performance?

A bit like buying a red car if you know what i mean .

To be fair I can see how Nathan got to that, especially if he was in a hurry.

Don't know why people would buy a red car thinking it was faster. Everyone knows blue is the fastest.

Only in the US. That's why they have 214kw instead of the 206 we have
