I pretty sure all Platinum 350z are 214KW, it's all you guys with the "exotic" colours who have the slower cars!

My theory is that all 350z start as Platinum Silver and get resprayed. The BLUE ones lose only 1-2 KW due to the NISMO whip effect, the RED ones lose 8KWs due to the constant braking effect...this can be countered by pressing ur face up to the windshield during acceleration.

as long as we are still "off topic" for a while I just have to mention how much I love my car...
Last night I was driving home pretty late and it was really cold, when I looked at the digital speed readout it had changed to the outside temp setting and read 3 deg ICY .
How cool is that

I've noticed that also, buy in reality it was about 7-8 degrees outside. The wind chill factor must lower the temp to 3 degrees as the air rushes by the sensor at 100km/hr.

Nathan,

I hope you dont mind me asking you some questions so I can learn from your experience with the 350Z.

Do you use the Lambros Hi Tech muffler and Y pipe on your car?

Has it provided the 18 Kw increase reported by Mike?

I sprint my 350Z Track and we are boiling the power steering fluid after 10 laps. Is there a higher boiling point fluid available better than what Nissan put in the car. We were boiling the brake fluid but corrected that by replacing it with Lucus High Performance Brake Fluid [Grand Prix 600].

We have slotted the Nissan Rotors but are still using the original brake pads. Are you able to suggest some replacement pads that will provide a little more bite under extreme braking.

Your suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Best Regards

Muzz

Folks,

Had my car Dyno'd today. The results of this are very interesting to those contemplating Exhaust Changes.

I have attached a Jpeg file of the dyno results. Some background. The car for this test is standard, was filled with BP 98 octane. The tests were done in 4th gear. First we dyno'd the car with the standard Nissan exhaust muffler (red line) and max power at rev limiter kicking in was 144kw. Because I have a removable pipe section between the resonator and the rear exhaust muffler we removed this and then put my extension pipe (about 500mm long) out of the rear of the resonator so the rear muffler is redundant, then ran dyno again. Max power at rev limiter kicking in was 148kw (blue line).

But wait look closely at the graphs. Each yellow grid is 3.2kw. With the muffler OUT, the car has less power [around 7kw until 115km/h but after that the the engine gives +11kw at 130km/h and +16kw at 150km/h where the engine would be revving in the high 5,000 rpm.

This confirms the butt dyno results.

So the conclusion I draw from this is that the muffler is very restrictive and if a straight through design is employed where the kilowatt drop will be almost nil then presto more power and you can use the muffler to give the final exhaust note to die for.

Discussions with the exhaust place where the dyno was done suggest that the Y pipe after the Cat Converters up to the resonator are likely to be restrictive also as the pipe diameter in the two flexible joints drops below 2" which is not ideal. So inserting more of a Y pipe [rather than the current U pipe shape] and having a larger single flexible joint in the straight pipe just before the resonator would provide better air flow and could give another 4kw if the improvements are similiar to the Hi Tech results reported elsewhere.

I attached the jpeg file but the attachment does not appear for you folks to see [or me on this forum]. It was 174Kb. Hm.
I used the Attached file bit above where you submit file, checked the right Jpeg but nothing appeared when I submitted it.

Where did I go wrong?

I believe there's a limit to file sizes you can attach but I'm not sure what it is. Try reducing the size and attaching again.

Your correct Apsilon. There is a limit and its 200,000bytes. My files is 174KB. Tried it again with 71Kb with same result [no attachment appeared on preview].
Anyone know where the attachment appears even if it works ??

Well just as a tease this image is 34.4kb
All I did was click browse and then found the file.
But you must make it 640 x 480 or smaller in size

Thanks Blue 350 Z

The dyno image is 43KB and resolution is 620 x 472. So trying again.
