Got mine fitted on Saturday and ditto to Zuffy's comments. Sounds great, workmanship looks good and can feel the difference when driving.

Zuffy

Can you give us your evalutation of the system how that you've had it fitted for a few day, your thought on sound, dronning or the lack off, fit, looks, and of course drive ablity/performance on the road.

ZZZ-35,

Sound: Deep sound when you start up and under load. Idles nice and quite with a little rubble in it. It has a bit of a drone in the 2000-3000 range but i'll put in a few 100 kms before i decide if i dislike it (the drone that is). When you rev from 0-5000 it is very much a race engine sound, if done without load it sounds a bit metalic. But under load it rocks.

Install and look: Hitech is very preofessional, the guys are very helpful. I came in at 1:30pm and went for a walk to the city and they called me at 2:30pm to pick it up. Sould have just sat there and watched .
We went over the install while it was on the hoist and all i can say it is a very nice piece of work.
As far a look, it is very similar to the stock but the tips are much nicer imho. I've seen the pics posted but they don't do it justice.

Performance: Well the butt dyno says thumbs up!
The slip light says thumbs up...
Cyodon's dyno will have to wait till the end of the week though.
What i can say though is that I seem to rev to 4000 rpm now instead of the normal 3000 rpm. Not sure if it's the sound or just that it gets there quicker.
As far as it affecting the handling, the extra torque seems to make it even more forgiving, not like i though it could be made to be any more forgiving.. (we have one big heavy flywheel).

Overall it's great value for a very good quality product made by a team that isn't going to dump us if we aren't fully satisfied. These guys seem to be really proud of their product! I was told to come back if it didn't produce the advertised power on the dyno...

Gotta love win/win situations!

I don't have the gear to record the exhaust properly.

Putting a digital cam next to the exhaust isn't going to cut it, not by a long shot.

I believe nismor33 posted one either this thread or another hi-tech thread. Try a search under"Hi-tech" and see if you can find it.

it's not very good quality but it's a start if you don't have anyone local to show it off to you.

yeah i've download it, it doesn't sound that good, too short of a clip, i prefer hearing it in action as in accelerating.

Not so many people own Z in Brisbane, it's a bit hard to spot one and take a good close look.

Doesnt sound good? Hopefully you mean the clip is poor quality....

People need to hear the Zed outside of the car, dull and lifeless without the exhaust.

So everyone is satisfied with their new exhaust. I'm happy for all of you and look forward to getting one myself later.
When you guys changed your exhaust, what did you do with the original system. Did you take it home and store it? If so, how did you get it home?
Also, what are you all doing about your insurance? Have you / will you contact your insurance company and inform them of the change? If you have, what was their response?

I left my stock exhaust at my friends workshop upstairs. Probably have to move it if he realises it's there

I informed my insurer (GIO), not a problem. They added it as an extra rather than a modification (don't consider it a mod as it's designed for that particular car and is bolt on and can be reversed). No change to premium etc.

Apps, that's good news about your insurance co accepting the change. BTW, GIO would not offer me insurance for my Z, even though I have a perfect driving record. Go figgure?????

I was pretty happy with their response although they kept me on hold for some time before giving it the green light.

Insurers are weird. You might have had a different answer if you called back and spoke to someone else.

Was just about to ask the same question about insurance.

I have insurance arranged by the lease company, and have just been told they (Jardine Lloyd Thompson) will no longer insure with the exhaust.

Aps, will try GIO and see if they will. Anyone else (particularly those in Melbourne) have any other suggestions?

Worst case scenario you could use Just Cars. They'll insure anything but you pay for it. They wanted about $500 per year more than GIO for the stock car.

NRMA will allow certain mods and this will probably be OK so may be worth a shot. CGU are apparently OK as well.

As we all know it comes down to a lot of factors (age, location, history etc so what they may do for one they won't for another.

Thanks Aps. Will give these a shot - hopefully at least one will insure it and hopefully for not much more than what I pay now!

Apps, while were on the topic of insurance, how did the insure co react to your adding a turbo to the MX5?

I used a specialist insurer for the MX-5, Torque Underwriting. Fantastic mob to deal with. I would've used them for the Zed no questions asked but they won't insure vehicles over $50k. If I still have the Zed when it's depreciated to that level I'll switch back to them.
