Hi i just wandering can we get a K&N filter in australia yet?

Coz i went to the only Australian K&N Distibutor and they seems don't have the 350Z on the list.

Cheers

As far as I know, and Id hate to be quoted, the filter is the same as for the Skyline.

i believe a few on this forum have swapped out the stock filter. So it's definitly in stock.

I'm going to swap mine out after i test the hi-tech exhaust, so i'd be interested in a part number too.

Part Number KN33-2031-2 according to US site.

The part number on the box I bought from OZ had 2 numbers on it.

33-2031-1
33-2031-2

Now I don't know what the differences are.

If you can't find it, I would be willing to sell you mine (cheap) but you'd have to pay shipping which may be cost prohibitive to OZ.

Mine has about 1500 miles on it. I removed it when I got the AEM CAI (which has also now been removed now that I have the Procharger)

I purchased a filter today, the part number is 33-2031-1. The guy at the shop said they also fit the older Skylines as well as the VT commodore?

Anyway, it must increase the HP ever so slightly.

I used to hit the rev limiter in second at 98km, after installation it is now 100km. Whilst I realise this is not a scientific test it must at lease increase HP by 1 or 2 points.

Cost was $125.

As always

Edit: tried again this morning and it was exactly 100km. that means 0 - 100 in 1 gear change.

lol harryw, you mean you hit the rev limiter just to find out ?

I've heard it does increase the flow quite a bit. As for power/torque increase, probably not very significant unless you swap out the plenum.

Zuff(Y), whats the point in having one if you dont hit it!!!

You dont want to miss out on any revs.

FYI there is no difference between the 2 part numbers. The second one is the new listing which is the same filter but has more applications listed for it.

Many moons ago I actually did a LOT of dyno testing with different filters for a team I was involved with at the time. The K&N always had a gain of at least 2rwkw and I'm sure in some applications might be as high as 3 or 4.

Just remember when you clean and re oil them to go easy on the oil.

Apsilon, have you ever tried the Blitz dry filter? There's a thread on it in the main mod forum.

I've looked it up and it seems like a very good alternative with no oil to get on the air flow sensor.

They're all much of a muchness, you're not going to get massive gains out of any of them and I'm of the opinion that you should use a drop in rather than removing the airbox. The stock airbox is rather good IMO.

Why not get a drop in K&N and the Mines air duct I have on order? Should be good for 3 or 4 rwkw in combination.

Actually you could try and source a US air duct. It's been proven that the US ones are larger than the JDM ones. I'm fairly certain we'll have the same as the JDM ones and that Mines are just copying the US spec one.

The Blitz is a drop in filter...it's just dry because it's all metal mesh.

As for air duct i never knew we had a smaller radius than the US... Have they skimped on us from every angle or what?

Should be easy to get that thrown in if i get an order with Crawford going.

I thought you were talking about a pod.

In that case is it reusable? Is it all metal? Surely there must be paper, cotton or foam in there somwhere. If it's reusable and a similar cost then it's probably worth a look.

Re the duct it's another piece of the puzzle as to why the US cars have more power.

Aps. I believe it is all metal mesh like the HKS metal flow.

Filtration wise who knows. I prefer a paper or foam type as it has the best of both worlds.

It's a drop in replacement for the stock filter, it's a aluminium mesh with 200micron filtration. Not that i can think of how small a dust particle is.

http://www.shyauto.com/manufacturers...airfilters.htm

http://www.blitz-na.com/product.html

I've found it at autobarn Auburn for 89 bucks... I'll pick one up on Wednesday when it comes in and let you know if it shows up on the dyno.

Till then i'll do some more reading as i want to be sure 200micron is small enough. Don't want dirt collecting in the air intake.

It looks identical to the stock one just larger. Have a look at this page. The last pic shows the JDM Vs US one. I'd like to get my hands on a US one to compare all 3 but can't be bothered buying one when I've already ordered the Mines.
