Default Water leaking from the rear wiper?!

Everytime I drive my 350Z a bit harder, it seem that the rear window washer starts leaking over my rear window. It seems to be caused either by hard acceleration or hard braking (or both).

It's no big deal, but it is distracting (while driving hard), and it's getting annoying. Anyone else has the same problem? If so, anyone knows how to fix this so that it does not leak?

I don't have this kinda problem though considering me driving quite hard on my car and turn hard into corners with hard braking and hard acceleration though... it might be good to have it checked out at your next service!

cheers,

huh, I don't follow? The rear window watter-sprayer thingie is leaking over my rear-window so it's not really the window that is the problem but the watter-sprayer. Maybe removing that will 'fix' it, but I'd like to think that there is a better solution. ie. one that allows me to keep the water-sprayer thingie and stop if from leaking.

hmmm, that may be a good point .... now all I gotta figure out where this 'reservoir' is and check it out. Took me only about 30mins to figure out how to open the rear boot, so this should not take me much longer :-)

I haven't looked for mine yet either. I don't actually think I ever used the rear window sprayer??? Good luck finding it.

I think the rear sprayer uses the same reservoir tank as the front wiper spray nizzles... they might be running the same system?! because I never fill in water for the rear one and it never runs out... and also I noticed that the water spraying pressure is a lot less at the rear one compare to the front ones though, that might explain they are using the same system as the rear nizzle is too far away from the pump (that's why the water spraying pressure is a lot lesser)?

cheers,

richie

hehe, I'd say remove the whole rear door + window .... it must weight good 30kg+. Would make for a nice weight saving :-) Though, it would nod do any favours to the already front-biased weight distribution.

I think the rear sprayer uses the same reservoir tank as the front wiper spray nizzles.

I think you're right. I was just looking at it and the tube from the rear-strayer-thingie goes into the roof and leads somewhere to the front of the car. It looks like it shares the same reseroir :-(

Not sure what else I can do ... I'll mention it to the service departoment when I get the chance, but if anyone else has a solution/idea then I'd love to hear it.

I took the rear wiper off and plugged the tube - can't stand the sight of ***** unnecessary nippon accessories like that thing. Not the slightest bit interested in what's behind - they can look out for me. Anyway, they are dissapearing further behind all the time. Those things have a place on 4wd's but not on a "sports car". Again I make the point - give us sports orientated accessories or delete the cost.

I'm totally with you Frosty as that is exaclty what I was/am after all along.
- No heated and electic seats (replace with sporty and lighter
Recaros. Save 20kg)
- No big stereo + subwoofer (replace with something ligher and
save another 10kg)
- Fit Rays 18" allows by default (save another 12kg)
- Replace the exhaust with a 'sporty' and ligher one that
improves the top-end power delivery (save another 15kg)
- No TC/VDC (or at leasdt make it OFF by default)
- Sports-oriened setup of the suspension (preferably adjustable)
- Save more weight by fitting making the rear door out of
Alluminium. And save a bit more from other 'unnecesary' bits and
bobs.

All in all you'd get a Zed that is less than 1400kg in weight, has around 220kg, has seats that 'hug' you and has a more neutral handling bias. That is what I would call a 'Track' model ... I think that they would sell like hotcakes.

Default wiper leak

My rear squirter leaks also. Just call nissan and they will get a new rear valve in for you & replace it at the next service.

I have a new one waiting for my 5k service (havent had time and am up to 6.8k...) Aparently its the valve that is the problem, mine leaks everywhere when you gun it.

With re to the wiper relevence, if you lived in snow prone areas as much of Nth America, the Uk & europe is then the wiper has a lot of relevence and use.

You guys have to remember that the z is a global vehicle, its not a falcon or commodore that is just designed for use on Oz roads where the wiper use is somewhat limited.

Also, you dont create a cult car by making it perfect from the box(unless its a GT3), part of the fun of getting a car is being able to modify it easily and get good results. If you want a super light bare-bones sports car go and get a lotus elise for the same money, some of us like the heated leather seats (& I love the way it makes female companions squirm in the seat...)

just my .02

Mine was doing it but it has now stopped. I think it gets a little blocked and a few vigorous uses will clear it.

Leeblue and Car2 - It's when yer front squirter plays up that yer in the *****!
Seriously -in reply to Leeblue - it's only a global car in basics - if tou look at, say, the US car, they have a range of alternatives/options not available to us. I think that the Aus importer designs a range / price parameters for this particular marketplace. Dunno for sure - just a process of logic.

Cool, will do that. Let us know when your car goes in and if the 'leak' has been fixed.

You guys have to remember that the z is a global vehicle, its not a falcon or commodore that is just designed for use on Oz roads where the wiper use is somewhat limited ... If you want a super light bare-bones sports car go and get a lotus elise for the same money, some of us like the heated leather seats (& I love the way it makes female companions squirm in the seat...)

My idea was not to only offer what I proposed, but to offer is as another variant (Track would be a good name for it as the 'track' we get is not realy what you'd call 'track' special). That means that most people could get one with all the 'gadgets', and then the people like me would get the model that focuses on 'performance' and speed (and all that goes with it).

As far as Elise goes, you're right about the 'track special' part, but the engine and gearbox in that car are atrocious. You guys might have thought that I complain about the Zed engine, well that's nothing compared to an Elise ... I can't believe they put then in so called 'sportscar'. Besides being rough and not a revver, it's just too slow. A Commodore V6 is quicker in the straightline (we've lined them up).
