hahaha.... that was a good one.... but personally... all I LOVE is the engine under the hood..... look at the presentation of that S1 engine... Carbon fibre intakes and the engine cover... makes me wonder how much will they run if those parts are available after market....

I still prefer the "old" nismo Z look though.... and I just bought a license plate.... "NISMOZ" to go with my "nismo z".

cheers,

richie

The numbers for the S1 tune are not that impressive - just 15kW at the crank and the same torque 400 revs earlier - good but not great. HT exhaust probably exceeds that.
But the car looks great with the new bar and aero kit with air cooling of both front and rear breaks.
DavidM - looking at the suspension mods, slotted brakes, lightweight seats and increased power, it becoming more the track weapon you're attrmpting to turn your car into.

Yeah, it seems so. I like the front styling as well, but not big on the rear bumper. I'd like to know how much weight they are saving and what revs they raised the limiter to. The seats look nice also. Looks very much what I'd like to do with the Zed (expect I am/was not planning on chaning the styling at all).

I'm guessing that from Nismo, none of this is going to be cheap.

You might have seen this in another post by Nathan/Peter, but incase you missed it the rev limiter was increased to 7000rpm, but they also changed the bolt to a nismo one, Nathan/Peter used an ARP Bolt.

mchapman:

What bolt did you refer to? I am quite interested in the S-Tune engine myself though...

Was considering changing my car for a R34 GTR because it has heaps of potential to be tuned up and there is one blue one for sale as well... but am thinking it might be more worth it for me to save up more to just buy a S-Tune or a R-Tune complete engine and the running gears... because if I sell the car right now, I will lose the depreciation values and all the mods money will go into the garbage bin...

cheers,

richie

The bolt he was refering too is the con rod bolts (big end), They are not a performance modification but an Insurance Policy in the case of an over rev.
Nismo have included them in the S1 tune

Any idea on the cost of doing so? I'd want to rev to 7300 rpm or else the investment would not be worth the trouble.

IMO a better solution would be to look at a FI isntall. The S Tune didn't gain much power and the R Tune, IIRC, was ~AUD$50k

There was a VQ35 at the recent Festival of Flight which looked pretty serious including twin turbos. Anyone know some details on this engine?

Sorry, the connecting rod bolt.

If you want to rev to ~7300rpm and be safe, you'll need to replace this. Also the standard rods are only good to 7400rpm so I wouldnt be going to this number without forged rods etc, this is all from Nathan/Peter.

You can get the NISMO bolt from performance nissan parts($20), I saw it there today actually, but Nathan/Peter used the ARP Bolt. So I know which one I'd be going.

There was a small thing on the Nizpro TT 350z in this months SPEED magazine. The price tag was ~$45,000. Thats how much it cost for parts, tuning, labour etc.

I will be happy with NA 206rwkw, I dont think i need anymore, if I wanted a turbo or more power I would have bought a skyline GTR, good for 1000rwkw.

The engine I saw definitely wasn't the Nizpro one. It was some serious hardware.

Serious hardware, more than $45,000!??

The Nizpro one makes: 393KW and 731nm

But even if you buy a skyline for potential you still have to spend $$ to get that power. My mate has a 500hp skyline, and he's paid a shitload of money. You basically need to replace everything, Turbos, Intercooler, Forged Piston, Rods, Turbo Manifod, ECU, Exhaust etc etc etc etc. If you did all that on the 350 you'd get great results as well. So what ever car your get you have to spend $$ to get power out of it. And the skylines are an older car so the inside arent as good, the outside isnt as good etc etc.

The only difference is that cast iron block, we have an aluminum one which can't take those high powers etc.

You gave me a reason to finally hook up my scanner again since my rebuild

Looks fairly serious to me but as I said I don't know anything about it.

Good work, that scanner needed some lovin.

Hmm, seems serious enough

P.S.
The Nizpro one has X2 260Kw Garret turbos on it.

Shoot, I just unplugged my scanner yesterday to move my computer! Oh well if you can do it, here goes.

I remember someone from a Melb based tuning house coming to this site offering the TT set up for $45K. So they are called Nizpro. The article claims 393kW and 731Nm (I love this torque number) and Speed mag usually states numbers to the wheels. Is this the case this time? Because if i recall correctly, when Nizpro came to this site looking for sales, they reported 500kW. If it actully is kW at the rears, this thing is a BEAST!!!! In either case, surely the standard gearbox will self destruct???
