Hmm not sure, its in Hong Kong... You can buy cheap electronics in hong kong, a mate just bought a samsung laptop from over there very cheap.

Dont know about this brands quality, see if this company sells some bigger brands and check the prices on them, just a thought.

harry are you going to use the LCD screen in the Sat Nav COmpartment?

Because if you do, i don't think i would recommend the screen into your Compartment. It's the button in the front get in the way and maybe the DVD player is ok.

Yeah, I was thinking of doing that. Seems cheap??

Not sure what you meant?Do you mean the buttons on the screen will get in the way of closing?

If you scroll down to the bottom of the screen you will see a TFT screen, would this be any better?

Well because the screen on Ebay is 7" and the Sat Nav Compartment only fit a certain size of 7". Especially the button in front of that 7" LCD will get in the way with the fitment.

That's why i'm not 100% sure if the LCD in the Ebay's will surely fit unless you know the brand or measured it.

Also the screen is Not TFT as what you mentioned. It's STN and it's the cheaper version of TFT but not as good as TFT. (i'm not sure the difference , i haven't seen one. just got the idea from Laptop Computer LCD screen )

Also this is the dimension of my LCD screen.

4.5" x 6.8" x .75"

and this dimension just Fit 100% perfectly on side by side but still got a lot of room for top and bottom (which cause me a headache when it slides down again )

hope you get what i meant

P.S: a clue is that my screen is the same LCD screen with the Farenheit LCD (What US People use and fit 99% perfect)

Is that the outside dimensions of the whole unit or the measurements for the screen itself?

Found this on STN vs TFT

The basic difference is that the TFT has the circuit transistors placed on the glass at the pixel location. This greatly increases the response time and allows for very fast refresh rates. The Dual Scan STN screens do not have the circuitry on the glass but have to scann the pixel locations. This slows the response time. The response time is important if you wish to have motion video. It allows a greater amount of pages of video (FPS) to be displayed per second. Most STN panels run about 100ms and TFTs run under 30ms response time. The best way to tell if it is STN or TFT is to look at motion video and see if it runs smooth, if it is blurry or jerking around it is most likely STN.

And

STN will be suitable for VGA and below resolution.

So

Sounds like its not good for DVD movies.

Also note that the cost is in AU, not USD with no conversion noted on the ad. I think that AU is more than USD, but be careful. This may be an attempt to show you AU$368.00 and then you send USD$368.00 which is more than the AU conversion. It is too easy to leave out the conversion and send them too much. And I bet they wont complain.

Also they dont mention the import tax, that is pretty substantial, like 25% of the value of the item. Look at some of the ads for other electronic items from other far east vendors. Some mention the tax, and others do not.

And who are the technicians making them? skilled , semi skilled, prisoners, farmers,, you just dont know.

and how will you return the item for exchange should it arrive DOA.. To hong kong.

Just some things to think of..........

The measurement i think it's the outer side. But it's exactly the same dimension in length and width with the Farenheit. But just different in the Depth or Thickness, which never effect the fitment.

One thing to note about the screens is NOT to get it if its a STN 'Dual Matrix' screen, remember old laptop screens which you can't see from athe side? You need to be sitting directly infront of them to see the picture on the screen. You'd want a 'Active Matrix' screen because where you sit in the car isnt directly in front of it.

Yes STN will make your eyes tired for a long use get a TFT then you can use it as future upgrade or add on a DVD player so when you watch a movie, you won't have a sore eyes or Tired eyes

Just wondering..... can we just get a JDM screen and put that into our Zed? I am sure that the sockets are already in our cars, isn't it just a plug and play system? ALso they have the DVD player as well, so it might be worth taking a look... and also nissan will not blame you for any electronic faults just like what ypwpat experienced before!

I know they are very dear, but might be able to go through the car importer, since they can get the system from the racked Zed cars overseas..

cheers,

richie

Might be worth a look, especially with the good exchange rate with the yen ATM.

Personally I'm not interested in NAV and DVD is a bit of a gimmick, you can't exactly watch it while driving. What I would be interested in a screen for is the possibility of installing a HKS CAMP system later on. I like those sort of toys

yeah.... I love that aps!!! just like the one on the skyline R34 GTR... but just don't think that is compatible with our Zed though...

and once again.... the wrecked yard is a good place to find those too!

cheers,

richie

Rich that electronic fault, was factory faults and it wasn't cause by my screen. It's just my sillyness for ignoring the electronic faults as the minor things, but ended that my ABS pump was fried. The nissan was trying to blame the Faults on my LCD screen and that's the Hell of BS.
Also the Nissan said my car wasn't Fused, but it does. So you can't really Trust Nissan Everything, because they just trying the customer to pay for every parts.
But i'm sure professinally installed wouldn't be a problem as you can see on all the people that have installed lot's of AMPs, and Speakers or Sub-woofer.
But i do wish to get the screen too. But i don't think Nissan Australia will also claim that as warranty. but i'm not sure. Better ask Rich Trusted Dealer Friend
Cheers

The Japan DVD player might be region locked and I dont think Japan is in our region so you wouldnt be able to play DVDs from here on it.

Apsilon
They are a gimmic, but GPS is very cool and I would never watch a DVD in my car but if im paying for GPS it had better come with a DVD player as well, just because GPS uses a DVD drive and a screen anyway, so if it doesnt play movies then its a wasting space.

Is there a camp system coming out for the 350z?

Isn't the CAMP system generic? Has to be wired in and may require some of it's own sensors but I don't think it's specific to the model of car.

Haven't really looked into it. There's a lot of things ahead of it on the list.
