I personally would only pay up to $800 for the remap and like others it depends on the result.

When I can purchase a Apexi Power FC with hand controller for $1500 that is a full replacement ECU then the remapping price should be cheaper as there is no hardware involved.

Typical dyno tune cost is around $600 - $1300 for a decent tune.

I personally consider the remapping method is like using a tool so you should pay for the time to tune and not the technology to remap. If i'm paying for the tool then I should have access to it !!

FWIW no further news on this yet. It's not going to be something that happens over night.

I'll see if I can get an update but with the opening round of the series only just over a week away I doubt they've given much thought to this just yet.

I dont think you can use complete replacement ECUs with our car. There are too many other systems controlled by the factory computer. If you replaced it you would be sacrificing alot of other functions. In older cars the ECU only controlled the engine but this isnt the case with the 350z.

Just checke dout the powerchip webite www.powerchip.com.au and they reckon theat they top opf the line chip will increase powerf rom 206kw to 220kw and torque form 363nm to 388nm for $1300 what do you guys think about this claim and the price??

 

The claim is an estimate as they've stated they haven't made a chip for the 350Z yet and hence can't supply it. At least that was the status last time someone here contacted them.

 

Last I heard was that the Z ecu wasn't compatible with an add on chip. There are now US requirements that ecu's must not be capable of reading external memory and can't have free standing memory chips( this is to specifically stop the aftermarket trade in powerup chips). This means the Z ecu has to be flash upgraded rather than a plug in chip - which involves EXPENSIVE hardware that really isn't available for onsite dyno tuning. Fortunately the Z can learn so things aren't as critical as they seem.

PS I would strongly suggest that you DONT consider removing the Z ecu and replacing it with an aftermarket unit. The ecu ties into MANY other systems and I couldn't see the car ever going again (IMO).

I agree any additional ECU, even one that is really a standalone unit, must be installed in a piggyback style arrangement.

FWIW I've been able to confirm that an Apexi piggyback version of the PowerFC specifically for the Zed is coming. I just haven't said anything yet as I haven't been able to confirm any other details including a release schedule. I'm hoping it's the type of solution we've been waiting for.

 

i heard some one installed a Mine's UCE on his 350Z AT
And it run faster, remove speed limiter, and the Rev limiter increase to above 7000rpm.
But i don't know which country is he from though.

He does say JDM at one point so my guess is he's in Japan or at least has a Japanese version.

No news, they still haven't decided if it's worth going ahead with and still don't have their own Zed (deposit was put down in Japan last week apparently).

 

Mmm.... hope they will have some good news for our OZ spec Zed. we are all waiting...

Given that they haven't even taken delivery yet I don't expect they'll have anything ready before third quarter this year so I'm not holding my breath at this stage.

The decision to develop something will rely heavily on which way they decide to go in preparing their own car (they're entering GTP). If they decide to flash the ECU they'll buy the equipment otherwise they'll go with a Motec setup in a piggyback style configuration.
