Default 0-100 and 1/4 times for modded zeds

Hi Guys!

Just joined the forum and I was wondering what times you guys have run in a sprint with modded zeds. Interesting to see how much time everyone is gaining with the $$ input. Power gains are well documented but I cannot find much about the time gains in a quick sprint.

Thanks!!!

Welcome to the forum

The only Aussie that I know of that's made a 1/4 mile run posted his times in this thread which you've probably seen.

I know a fair few times have been posted in the main forum sections but I haven't paid too much attention to the numbers but you shouldn't have too much trouble finding them via search.

Thanks!

Yeah, I have seen those numbers. I wonder if anyone here has given their Hitech modded zeds a run? Given that people are experiencing decent gains with that system. At a guess I would suspect a 0.25 sec gain since people are getting about 15-20%.

welcome to the board! I am not too sure if there is any device that can be able to time the sprint time accurately. And it will be interested to see the result too!

EDIT: Just noticed that you are in Melbourne too!

cheers,

richie

Ah yes, there are not many of us in Melbourne! There are ways to estimate times but nothing reliable

On a different note, how is your car driving with all the mods you have made? I plan on going a little crazy on this car so I would be interested.

Cheers richie.

Closest 'measurment' we have is probably me lining up a HSV and WRX right before the exhaust fitting and then about a week after. There's a lot there, but if you read the whote thread/s, then you can draw your own conclusions.

Welcome to you flight...

Yeah, I posted the time of 14.449 but this was my first time ever at the strip and a very 'dodgy' 4th run. (TS 155.56kph).

I have picked up a few tips from the lads here since and can surely improve!!

Mine only has a metal jacket covered pod (Simota) pointed straight through the air ram hole...dubious if it helped much.

After those mods, the car has been freed up a bit and you gotta love the power as well. Well.... just that it is so strange that ypwat's flywheel noise is a lot more than mine and I seriously don't like his noise at all though + I have this kind of strange noise when I depress my clutch above 4000rpm, I am gonna have it checked out on monday and hopefully the re-installation will get all the things fixed up and still retain the noise level. Other than that, I love the car WITH the mods! So how are you going to go with the car? FI?

cheers,

richie

Great, let me know how you go with the re-install.

FI is the way I am thinking. SC not as keen on as a turbo install. Still doing my research. Going to the US in a couple of months so I will *hopefully* pick up stuff from there. Looks like I will be creating an r35 GTR before nissan does! Interested in the greddy kit because it seems the most install friendly, i.e. well documented. A little nervous because I am not sure how many of these have been done in Aust. Will let you know when some progress is made. Any advice?

Cheers!

Yeah, I read somewhere that they did TT a z but it cost the dude something like 40k...ummm, i do not have a spare 40k, *checking wallet*, nope not in there....must have left it in my other pants.

A couple of buddies in the US have TT'd their zeds with much less than that and are having no reliablity problems yet (about 40,000 kms), using kits like the Greddy.

sorry what i meant is. Why don't you get either the PE TT or Greddy TT into Australia and have it installed by Nizpro

yeah.... ypwpat is correct. It will cost a lot less by bringing in the kit and get that installed here. I am not too sure if those shops will be willing to install the kits if you don't get the kits from them though. Some shops just don't do just the labour (which I think it pretty stupid anyway). Please keep us inform on the FI and I am sure you will be enjoying your zed with those extra power! I seriousln't cannot wait to see that in Melbourne!

cheers,

richie

The Greddy won't fit due to the exhaust manifolds. Greddy has said they have no plans for a RHD version at this time which is unfortunate. I'm waiting to see what comes out ECU wise as that's the key to any FI conversion IMO.

PE is fine as they have LHD and RHD versions. I was surprised Trust/Greddy isn't offering the kit in Japan. Top Secret is currently drive in drive out only which makes it hard if you don't live in Japan.

I read today that Top Secret has just shown its 2nd version of the 350Z with TT. The original was a 300kW version. This new version produces approx 515kW!!!! Also, Top Secret say this version will be available for sale later in the year. No other info.

There's been pics of the 2nd version around for a couple of months now. Looks impressive but unless they decide to offer it as a kit there's not much hope of us ever seeing it.

I saw a post which mentioned a NA Zed doing 13.2, and he was bogging down at lauch. He had the big duration Tomei cams, Crawford headers and slicks. I would be happy with a very low 13sec NA Zed. I know slicks make a big difference but supposedly his car breaks traction @WOT4000rpm. I wonder how slow it is from 0-4000rpm, im sure the headers are helping to keep the torque up at the lower rpm range.

I would be happy with a low 13 zed too...*day dreaming pause*. I think some serious work would be needed to get it to the LOW 13s though. Mods like slicks help a lot but not very practical.

Thanks for the heads up on the Gready kit apsilon. Will look further into it when I go to the US. I totally agree with you in regards to the ECU point. I am working on the assumption that this is not too far away.
