Bird Shite
Several weeks ago, after I washed the car I noticed that one lot of bird ***** left a stain on the paint job.
I tried to remove it with a finishing agent (which removed some light scratches BTW), but this did not word. Subsequently washed again and the stain won't go away.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you get rid of the stain?

I hate to say it but you may be out of luck. I'd suggest posting something in the car care section here as someone may have foud a way to remove it but really the only way AFAIK is removing the top layer until the stain is gone but that may mean going all the way through the clear coat.
What did you try? I must admit I found a small, light stain after washing last week that I couldn't remove with washing or the paint cleaner but was able to remove it without much effort using ScratchX. Maybe you just need to try something a little harsher.

It happen to mine recently. Go out there and get Meigular Scratch X. Also use dawn to clean the spot and then wash it wash it again with your normal car wash liquid. Dry it and start applying the Scratch X (read instruction on the back).
I did mine for almost 1 hour, just keep applying scratch X and rub it as hard as possible on the stain (the rubbing part is up to you, because this might scratch your car too, so apply another swirl remover is highly recommended. Mine is gone and can't really see the scracth as well. So do it in your own responsibility
). Then until you can't really tell where is the Stain was. Apply swirl remover all the time and you are up.
Good luck.

Thanks - I'll buy some Meguire's Scratch X and try to remove it on the weekend.
BTW, the finishing agent I used was a product with the brand name Auto 1 (not the store). I got it from the place that did my paint protection (behind McGrath Nissan at Sutherland).

You may want to contact the guys that did the paint protection. Not only should they be able to recommend how to fix it they should fix it for you for free, afterall isn't this the sort of thing the paint protection is meant to prevent?
Is yours one that has to be reapplied annually? If so you must be about due for the renewal so it could be an opprtune time to have them look at it.
EDIT: BTW contact them before trying the ScratchX as that may void the paint protection warranty.

Its more than likely bat *****. Those little buggers have a very acidic crap and it kills your paint.
Try the scratch remover and I am trying to think here....I am thinking Mothers something or rather from Autobahn. Worked good on my Skyline with the same issue.

Although it's too late for now, for what it's worth I once saw a demo at a car show -
They poured undiluted ACID over a BMW bonnet and it remained totally unaffected-
Trick was merely CARANUABA wax as the final coat to polish.
Put it on over a polished finish very sparingly - and buff off as you go - you'll do the whole car in 10 mins and frankly it's the best shine I know.
Perishes in sunlight in about a month, though.
Just another wash, chamois and 10 mins and it's like new again -
and no bird stains possible.
BTW, the paint protection mob have a case to answer IMHO.

Thanks for the responses guys.
The paint protection is not worth the paper its written on. In fact, I recall the fellow at that store telling me a story about a bird ***** stain that could not be removed from another guys car, that also had the protection applied. He advised washing any stains as soon as they are noticed.
Apps' idea of a microfibre cloth in the glovebox for cases such as these is the way to go.
No I don not need to reapply annually, but when I last spoke to the guy at the paint protection shop and pressed him on the best method for obtaining a glossy lusture, he advised I should in future use canubra wax to pollish the duco. Although he said you only need to do it every 6 months. Every month as Frosty suggested may be a safer option. The wax may have to wait until after Easter though.
Well, I'm off to Super Cheap / Autobahn tomorrow morning for Scratch X / Mothers Milk depending on what's available.
Zuffy - nothing sticks to your car, but the brilliant shine must blind the truck drivers!

Zaino does the same... if you get it on before the birds do you'll be safe.
Nothing sticks to my car...even bird **** slides off...

lol... yeh!
That's a bit over the top. I've found with 6 coats of zaino that the bird **** doesn't stick even after a few days.
I have noticed that it is worth clay barring the car every 3 months or so... couldn't believe the crap i got off my car.

My car looked like a Leopard with yellow spots.....got the Zaino out in the parking lot and flew home to wash it! Wow....Jen's got a lot of time on her hands, huh???
I've had the car just over a year now - park outside under the trees all the time.
Wash it weekly.
Spend (literally) 15 mins monthly and put a coat of carnuaba wax on very thinly.
No stains - car shines like a new pin.
I've posted elsewhere about the sulphuric acid on the BMw bonnet and the protection afforded by the wax.

Parked under a tree yesterday morning. Same tree I've parked under dozens of times (at a friends). This time it decided to drop sap all over the car. Drove home and rinsed it off. I just use a wax.
I was thinking of using some old undies - is that advisable or should I go and buy some of those pads you mentioned Frosty?
Where do you get them from and what brand are they? How big are they (you say little)?

STREWTH! - the mind boggles! Innocence can't be beat!
Yer cood finish up with wors'n BIRD ***** on the car if yer arn't real careful, and. . . . . . and . . . . . and . . . . .
The pads are yellow foam, two to a little pack, about 110mm circular and about 200mm thick - like little pancakes.
They wash out with a little detergent when you're finished.
Good idea to use them microscopicaly damp - give them a good squeeze out after soaking in water and then apply the polish.
USE FOR APPLICATION ONLY.
They're impressed with the "Meguiar's" logo.
