SHIZZLE, I used to be a golf batter. I now usually play once a year on Xmas eve with all the guys who work for me.

I prefer to kick a ball around anyway, nothing beats the "non body" contact sport!

I think I might go on the 22nd as I'm eager to crack into the 13's.
I'm up for that Sat 22nd. Want to test the Hi tech.

I'll forgo the Sat golf and play on Sunday instead...

Thought you was another sunset Z around town at first because of the tint and the dark.
Then POW! - beats the drags anytime. ! !
Didn't know who's tyres were screaming - and it was a bit ofputting with your engine right next to my right ear. Didn't know who was pulling the revs!
I think that I peddaled 1st a bit better because I got a bit on you even though I was a millisecond late with the green coming a bit soon - I still had one finger on the TC button.
But then you pulled 8000 in my ear and I changed a bit late to 2nd. I feel sure you've got more top than me?
How fast were we when I backed off for my turn?
FUGGEN - GOOD STUFF! Better'n golf batten' anyday!

He pulled 8000 on you Frosty.
Poetic licence man, but a good story anyway.
It's better at the drags cause you can wind out 4 gears instead of 2 and worrying about getting jailed for having fun!

I was driving back from a meeting in Sydney and I see this flash pull out of the servo and cut across two lanes of traffic and take off. I thought hello, I know that number plate. Anyway I got stuck in traffic a bit but finally made it to pole position, and then FARK ME, the old bloke next to me decides he wants to have a go.

It was my tyres, doesnt the car just squirm for a bit and then hook up!!!!!!!!

Lets just say for once and for all, RED is the fastest colour!!!!!!!!!!!

SHIZZLE did get the jump on me by a split second, I was too busy looking at him and trying say G'day, but I was definately pulling ahead after 1st. 2nd to 3rd I was, from where I was sitting about 1/4 to 1/2 car ahead then the old bugger pulled the "ive got to turn left here trick"

Good fun no matter what!

We needs to get ourselves to the track. It will have to wait until after soccer though!!

Shizzle, Ive never been one to look how fast Im going when "driving". The only time Ive ever really done that is going down the straight at the Creek. Let's just say I was full biscuit going into third.

As always

Went to the dragstrip last Sat and failed to break into the 13s bracket with a best of 14.18s for the day.
I found that it is better to be slightly aggressive with the throttle than easing onto it from standstill. When I eased onto the throttle with between 2-2.5k rpm, the engine just bogged down and then the best I could expect to run was a 14.5.
Also, the track felt a little slippery to me. When I changed from 1st to 2nd, tyres would chirp, but the rear end would break loose and push sideways slightly. That didn't happen the last time I was there.
So, I guess I'll sit on a best of 14.07 for now.

Shame that you can't claim 13s yet, but you are very consistent with the low 14s ;-) What was your trap speed this time? Trap speed will tell us how much more the car still has to give.

Still a good job with getting into low 14s again ... I'm sure that the 'secret' to getting a really top time is in the launch. If you can nail ther launch, you'll carry that 'benefit' all the way down the strip.

When I changed from 1st to 2nd, tyres would chirp, but the rear end would break loose and push sideways slightly.

I get that all the time when driving 'fast' (on my road rubber). I have not had an occasion yet when my rear tyres would not brake loose on the 1st-to-2nd gear-change. I even get a small wheel-spin on the 2nd-to-3rd chage. In the wet, be carefull even with the 3rd-to-4th change as you will brake the rear tyres loose if you are agressive with the gear-change.

What was your trap speed this time?

From memory, in the 98 - 99.xmph bracket (thrown out the timeslips). In km/h, i think the fastest was 159.99km/h (remeber that one because it was just shy of 160. Failed to break above 100mph all day though.

I have not had an occasion yet when my rear tyres would not brake loose on the 1st-to-2nd gear-change.

Was more than just rear tyres spinning. The rear end was flicking sideways, indicating to me that the track lacked some grip. BTW in the wet I am very conservative and allways leave the electronic nanny turned on just incase I unexpectadly hit some oil on the road.

That indicates that you're pretty close in terms of outright 'speed'. There's maybe another 3kph hidden somewhere, but that's about it. I'm sure that equals to a couple 10th down the drag-strip. Still, a really good launch will gain you more even if the trap-speed does not increase.
