Default Wanted stock 17" tyres & sabotage to rear tyre

Has anyone got std 17" tyres they want to get rid of? I'm in Perth but travelling to Sydney and Brisbane early next month. Mine are starting to wear out - can't think why.....

And on the subject of tyres - my car started doing odd things the other day - twiching all over the road etc. turned out 8 pds in the back rear. Tyre looked OK even with the low pressure. No leak - someone let the air out. I'n going to check pressures much more regularly. Makes me extra mad we did not get the pressure sensors the US got.

I thought the standards were 18"?

I think I've just sold my standards wheels and tyres but I assume you wouldn't want to buy a whole set of both wheels and tyres anyway? Please let me know if you would like to buy them and I'll let you know whether they've gone yet. (Supposed to be today but haven't heard yet.)

What were the pressure sensors you mentioned the US got?

Aus, the touring coupe got 17's and the track 18's.

The pressure sensors are little doo dads that tell you when your pressures are low. From what I've read they just seem to bugger up all the time.

As always

I may be able to help. My new car (Touring) arrives next week and replacement wheels towards the end of August (new Z will be locked away in the interim - "How hard is that??").
I live on the Sunshine Coast (100k north of Brisbane) which is a good cruise so keep in touch.
cheers

I live at Buderim which is 40km south of Noosa so you would drive within about 1KM of my place.
Happy to discuss.

Cheers

I've still got 17" tyres, but as they've seen about a half dozen track days (as well as road cruises) I don't think you're going to want them.

I'm not too fussed about the pressure sensors; like others have said, they tend to malfunction a lot and they only tell you when tyre pressures are very low (which would have come in handy when you were running on 8psi).

I usually check my tyre pressures when I do my weekly fill-up. I'm usually heading home from work, and so the tyres are still cold when I get to the servo. I bought a set of Track rims for my Touring, and I found they were leaking 1-2psi a week.

One thing for me to consider is what one of my mates told me. He went down to Wakefield Park after the Procar round, and they had all the discarded tyres from the V8 BRutes (which are 245/45 R17 road legal tyres). They were too "dead" for racing, but they'd still be somewhat road and track usable for a street car. They were free to take, and he was going to go through the entire pile and find me 4 in decent condition. Too bad by that when he got time to do it, they'd thrown them all into the tyre barriers.

I might have to consider checking out what kind of condition the tyres are in the next time there's a Procar round nearby.
