Default Got my Z back

Finally, after long wait I got my car back, it's been close to a month. The workmanship is perfect, and the paint seems to be matched very well too, but it's too early to say, since the sky is grey, Once the sun comes out I'll take a better look.

Now the part that has pissed me off. I was on my way back from the smash repair shop and I checked how many km's it has done, well there was 120km since I've left it. WTF!?!?!?!

Also the fuel economy was 6.2km/l and half a tank of fuel gone(when I've left it, it had a full tank of fuel and it had 11.2km/l on the fuel economy guage). So it's a straight give away that they have took it for a spin. I'm thinking of filling a complaint with NRMA since the smassh repair shop is authorised by NRMA and they warrant their work. What do you guys think I should do?

EDIT: 12km/l changed to 11.2km/l

A spin???? 120km seems abit more than a spin. How did they justify it?

Since the car is on Novated Lease, on all of my fuel recipts I have my odo reading, so I don't think it will be hard to nail them

I would confront them before logging a complaint to see what they have to say for themselves

yeh no ***** !!! id be spitting chips!!!

imagine you are a mechanic (a mechanic without any ethics etc NOT all mechanics are like this) and someone drops off a nice Z - you are going to want to take it for a drive arent you....
just to see how it goes, see the burnouts it can do, how fast they (Z's) are etc

if you only had panels fixed and resprayed then what possible need is there for them to even drive it??? even most mechanical parts only need a quick drive round the block to see if they are installed right etc..

even so, 120kms is a damn lot of test driving!! thats from one side of perth to the other and back pretty much !!!!!!
sounds like they might have even taken it home for a weekend or something !!!

i agree with MR RIZK, confront them first and dont take any excuses!!! if it was me i'd be suing the f*ck out of them !!

Well, they (smash repair shop) have dropped my car off at Peter's(Nathen's) workshop to fix the suspension, but it was there only for a day, so I can't imagine him putting on 120km just to test out the fix.

Your car was driven to our workshop on wednesday morning.
The repairs were carried out on thursday. At the competion of the work I took it for a test drive around the block to check to see if the steering wheel was central. (aprox 3Klm) The panelbeater picked up the car on Friday morning.
The Smash repair shop you used has a good reputation.

Peter, I know that, I'm going to give them call on monday and see what they say. I guess that the only reason why it would have that many kms on it is if they have taken it offsite, since the only parking there is on the street.

Also do you remember what was the toe in/out set on the front? I've noticed that the steering wheel is very nervous and when I turn the steering 180degrees, it tends to turn in by itself.

Nuff, last TSB I read from Nissan US said that the front toe must be zero. This is part of the feathering TSB if you want to find it yourself.

As for parking the car, even my panel beater who didn't have room to park the car in his yard still made room inside the workshop when he closed up. It's a bloody expensive car, and it's no safer at his house where he has no insurance.

Zuff, yeap, I've read the TSB, but it's kind of weird, I've checked the steering again, and the steering starts turning in by itself when moving forward at around 270degrees+ from center position. It's kind of strange, but I suspect it's because the toe is set to 0, since when it is less then 270deg the steering wheel centers itself, very slowly I've to say. I just have to get used to the new bahaviour.

As for the kms, I'm not worring myself too much. I'll call them on monday and get an explanation.
