Default Practice

Outside of an actual AutoX event, do you practice? If so, where?

A fellow driver and I were thinking about trying to find a place to practice - something safe and legal. Just wondering if it's really possible to find someplace.

Thanks,
Dave

I practice every time I drive, by attempting to put my car exactly where I want it. Sometimes that means "brushing" the "Bott's Dots" with the left tires, sometimes with the right tires. Other times I do lane changes attempting to avoid the "Bott's Dots" other times I try to run over a specific one. I always practice looking up and looking ahead.

As far as "at the limit" driving goes, I don't tend to do that on the street, since it can be pretty risky with all of the crazy people out there who are sure that they DO own the whole road, among other things. However, I do have a couple of corners that have good visibility, but are relatively slow. I'll try to get to about 70% of what the car is capable of.

Other than that, I try to get to as many events as possible, which often means 2-3 hour drives (or more!) each way.

I also have this problem!! This country is not like Taiwan. We own lots of mountains there, so I always practice on mountains. There are hundreds of curves there; you will really have lots of fun and everything is free. When I lived in Atlanta, I used to visit Helen of Georgia- also a mountain. I always arrived there around midnight because I am afraid to be caught by COPS. Then I started my practice. Though everytime I needed to drive around 100 miles to get there and also another 100 miles to get home, I enjoyed it very much. Now I live in Houston. There is NO mountains here, only deserts. I miss those curves so much.

Can anyone tell us where we can go to practice without causing any trouble!!! Thanks a lot.
