Default Kirk bar working great

I have had a Kirk bar for 1 year. I worked with Kirk to do a second generation 350 Zroll bar that allows more travel for the passenger seat. I put a JC Whitney bar pad and a black naugahyde cover kit on it to add safety for street use. The cross bar does reduce some rear visibility, but after two weeks I did not notice it and rear view safety is fine. The set up does take out 1 1/2" of seat travel, but a litte seat recline gives that back to my passengers. I think ever sports car like a Z ought to have a factory roll bar built into the car like the Nobel.

The Kirk folks are great to work with. I had mine installed at thier Birm factory/shop. Good quality constrution. There are issues on placement of the bar in terms of location to your head. The closer to being right over your head the better for roll over protection, but that position does effect helmet/head space. Placing the bar further back allows for more head room but less protection. Also, check this forum about info on post anchoring placement relative to strength.

Good luck. Get a rool bar if you will be on the track!! Best safety mod you can make.

The six point cage weighs about 127 pounds for the 350Z (ours is NOT X-braced). I know the roll bars for the 3rd gen RX-7 weigh about 80 pounds, which is probably pretty close to what the Z's 4 point bar will weigh.

That's a ton! I guess that's the price you pay for safety.

Yes it is. Our race car seems to keep getting heavier...
