Default Anyone Tried The V710 285 on Stock Track Wheels

I just sold my other set of new A3S04's to a fellow G35c Racer and want to try the 285 V710's anyone tried this on the Stock 18" Track wheels? I know they are running the 275 on Stock 17" wheels so I would think they would work but thats alot of $$$ to lay out just to saee if they work

Thanks,
Bryan

I don't think they will fit. I know Joel brought Carter/Jim Thompson one to test fit in Toledo. I'm thinking you could probably squeeze one on the back. I've seen them on a 9in wheel but there is no way they are going to fit on the front. Maybe Jim or Carter will see this and have a definite answer.

The reason the 275's fit is because of the taller side wall when used on a 17" the 18" has much less sidewall to bend.

Well we have run 285 in a Hoosier but could not run the Psi high enough to make the shoulders last, But since the V710 takes less Psi I thought maybe we could make them work. I just don't think the 245/18 will be enough tire for the car. Any Suggestions Welcome......

I'd wait for carter and jim to confirm if they fit or not before you buy them. HAve you tried the S05 hoosier?

No, I've heard good about it but that the 710 was still better and longer life than the 05. I have ran against an M3 with s05 and me on s04 and he was getting quite a bit more grip than me. The Hoosiers are just so expensive I would like to try some other option.

I'm running 275 Hoosiers on my track wheels, but I think for regional competition the 245 710s might work well enough -- if you can find any (all of those RX-8 guys are snapping them up, I wonder why... )

We tried the Kumho 285/30/18 on our track wheels and there is just no way to make them fit.We don't like the smaller diameter with the Kumho 245's so for now we are stuck with the Hoosier 275/35/18's.One thing we learned at Toledo was that the Hoosier wets are awesome....when it rains you better be on them.

The RX8 at the very least is 250 lbs lighter than a 350z in stock trim. I really think the Z would overheat the 245s to quickly. I think the 275 hoosier is going to be quicker than a 245 710 on the Z.

At national (or divisional) events, if you've got 17-inch wheels, the 710s are where it's at.

At national (or divisional) events, if you've got 18-inch wheels, the Hoosiers are the only ticket in town.

However, for regional events, you could probably get away with 245s -- unless you already have 275s, then use them.

Oh, and the RX-8 may be 200 lbs lighter, but they are also 2 inches narrower, and IIRC, 2 inches taller.

2 inches narrower sounds like a good thing.

2 inches narrower with less height, maybe.

2 inches narrower with more height, not good (less ability to control body roll).

They transition so much better than our cars I don't think it matters.
