2 way lsd and driving technique question
Didn't know what forum to put this under, but i figured track racers would know more about how they handle in turns then a drifter. So what do i have to know about 2 way lsd's and how they lock up both on accel and decel to drive safely. If i'm going moderately in a sweeping turn and suddenly let go of the throttle, am i going to induce a spin with oversteer? Are the wheels going to lock up and actually slow the rear end down if i let go the throttle? Not really sure how a two way affects handling when you do something abnormal, like letting off the gas at the wrong time or down shifting at the wrong time. I'm getting an LSD just for fun, mainly street driving and it will be set at 60%, but wanted to hear pro/cons on LSD settings and stuff before i commit to a 2-way. Maybe a 1.5 way is better for everyday driving?
Thanks for any input.

It will depend on your speed, driving style, and other factors.
In general, the smoother you are with your throttle style and driving techniques, the lesser the effect will be. A two way will effect the car dynamics more than a 1.5 or 1 way, but it would depend on how you use the 2 way's traits. It sounds to me like a 1.5 would be a better way for you to go, in this case. I'd reserve a two way for more serious racing purposes, if even then...

Don't drive your car in the rain with a 2 way, you will crash.
1.5 applies even power under acceleration and 50% power to the inner wheel on deceleration. This is going to be much easier to control.
2 way is equal power on accel and decel. on decel with engine braking the back of the car is going to want to skate around on you and it may get a little scary if your going fast.

A 2way diff is going to give you corner entry understeer. If your suspension is modified enough that you have good tuneabilty (ie: adjustable swaybars, adjustable shocks, possible extra sets of springs) you can tune most of the corner entry understeer out. A 1.5 diff is not going to give you any extra corner entry understeer. We usea 1.5 diff on our SCCA T2 racecar and its perfect, this is what I would recommend..
I've got mine set at 1.5 way. That's what I would also recommend to start with.
The nismo that I have is set as a 1.5 way is still very intrusive on the street. It tucks and pushes when you roll on and off the throttle. I would imagine the 2 way would do this even more.
