Reg now open!! TZC/THSCC Rockingham Nov 5-6
Hello again from the Triangle Z Club / Tarheel Sports Car Club
Registration is now open for our November 5-6 HPDE and Time Trial at the North Carolina Motor Speedway in Rockingham, NC.
www.motorsportreg.com/register for online registration
Cost: $265 for Z drivers (sign up as a member) and $285 for non-'members'
There are a few NASCAR garages available for this event, but they are 1st-registered, 1st-served so get your entry in early if you want one.
This is our standard HPDE format: three student run groups based on experience level (beginners/1st timers MORE than welcome). Everyone will have an isntructor unless other-wise pre-approved as solo. Each run group will recieve three 30-minute driving sessions per day with professional classroom instruction between the driving sessions. At the end of each day there will be an optional Time Trial for pre-registered cars with the proper safety equipment. (Go to www.timetrials.net for details)
We anticipate a sell-out for this event. Our June event here (1st time back since '97) was a huge success and all indications are that this one will be even better with the cooler temps (central NC is usually gorgeous in early November.)
Please email or PM me if you have any questions...

slight bump.. but some info that might be useful... this is from a PM I got, thought I'd share it:
Hmmm... well. I haven't driven Road Atlanta except on SCGT, but here's how Rockingham works: you'll come around the 23 degree banking of the NASCAR turns 1 and 2, anywhere from 90 to 120 mph or more depending on your car and nerves... after a short stretch on the back straight (still banked at around 12-13 degrees, you'll brake hard and turn left into the infield. There's a left hand 'hook' that puts you onto a short straight where you track left to set up for a right-hand carousel (two right-hand sweepers) putting you onto another short straight that runs right next to the paddock... after a kink to the right, there is another left hand hook that puts you on the apron around NASCAR turn 4... from here you ease up onto the Grandstand straight (really a bending straight) that leads into NASCAR turn 1...
Laps are short, maybe 1:25 during the HPDE... but that also means you get lots of laps in our 30-minute sessions. I wouldn't consider it boring by any means, and in general, a shorter circuit increases your ability to learn and try new techniques since you'll learn the line quicker.
There is still plenty of room at this event in all run groups - we opened registration really early for it, and there's been a lull during the summer, but I expect the entries to start coming in now that we are only 2 months away
