I sure have a crapload of stuff to replace on my car: CV boot, front rotors, front pads, tires, and possibly a tranny.
As far as I know, Stacy has me on the confirmed list...

I haven't been through the list to see who all is signed up... I know there are a more than a few though
how many people do you expect in the intermediate group?
i'd like to go but $300 beans for "only" 3 sessions each day, may not be worth it to me.
i'm not trying to be a dik or anything I just want some wide open sessions.
the mazda group last year was crowded
thanks
jim

I'll defer to others on the list who have done our events as well as others and let them draw comparisons... but I think we have a pretty good grasp on setting run groups and utilizing passing flags and fairly liberal passing zones (especially for the more experienced groups) to keep trains to a minimum. We are also flexible in terms of run group placement... if someone is simply too slow, or too fast for a particular group, we'll move them.
Traffic itself will always be an issue at any track as popular as VIR... without paying a fortune... which brings me to your next concern: price...
$300 for 3 hours of seat time is not a bad deal no matter how you slice it... works out to be about $5 a lap on Full Course events, figuring on about 10 laps per session at worst... that figure gets better on the shorter tracks since you get more laps per session. Don't forget about the t-shirt and banquet Saturday night that is included in your entry fee.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal for VIR Full Course. Our event in April on the North Course will be about $60 more expensive. Sure... we could elliminate our time trial and add a fourth run group rotation, but thats not gonna happen with the investment we've just made in the AMB timing system, and the demand we have for our time trial program. We hope people will take the next step and prep their cars for time trial use... for another $30 you'd get a second 15 minute session each day thats competitive... adding even more value.
Our events aren't for everyone... if you're looking for open tracking, then I'll tell you not to waste your money on our schools... cause thats what they are... schools. From what I've seen... Chin offers the most seat time on the tracks here in the southeast if thats all you're looking for.
If you want to run with a group that focuses on knowledge, safety, and fun... If you want to learn all you can, no matter how many events you've done... and if you don't mind following some simple rules to keep everyone safe... then give us a shot.
Otherwise, there are tons of other organizations that are willing to take your money no matter what.
There's one cliche phrase that I think describes us well: Quality over Quantity
I hope this answers your concerns
thanks for your honest answers.
i'm definetly doing the north course in April, as I've never done that section before, and I'm still debating with myself over Feb's run.
Thanks again,
jim

update:
Feb 11-12 HPDE is officially at capacity... thanks for all of you who have signed up...
If you are still interested, I recommend heading on over to MotorsportReg.com and registering for the waitlist. With an event this size (close to 200 cars including instructors) we're bound to have some people cancelling.
Registration for our April North Course event is already open - still plenty of room for that one

I am glad to see this event is so popular. If you do miss this one but still want to go to VIR, we will be back there in April.
If you are on the fence about these types of events, or you are just curious, I highly recommend coming up on Saturday and checking it out. We may even have parade laps to allow you to drive on the track. That will depend on what the schedule will hold.
For those who are registered and those on the waiting list, this is a reminder of the two upcoming tech-days coming up. First is on January 21st at K&E. The next is Feb 4th at Carolina Automasters. Sign up for both is available on http://www.motorsportreg.com . You will need to have a tech inspection sticker or approved form before you are allowed to participate in the HPDE part of the events.

I'll be there and guess what? Kim's running too - her first track event. Since she knows you and has ridden with you at speed, she'd like to request you as her instructor. If you're cool with it, I'll ask Stacy/Mark.

Shouldn't be a problem

Thanks Guys!
I want to do everything to make her first event not her last. We've got a friend who's going to pit crew the car for the two of us, so we should both be able to make our class sessions and not loose any track time. If necessary, I'll give up my track time to make sure she gets all the experience she wants.
TZC/THSCC really puts on a first rate event. I've always had a great time running with these guys. Thanks again.

And instructors... if all goes well... no back-to-back student sessions... in theory, instructors will have time to debrief with each of their students after each run group without affect that students class time, or the next student's track time
We're very pleased with how this has worked out
Oh yeah... I forgot to mention... for the VIR events, we will have both Ron Spencer and Chuck Hawks doing classroom... which means no combined class sessions... each run group gets their own class session, taylored to experience level
