Buttonwillow on May 26th (Friday)
T.E.A.M. Racing brings to you its first event of 2006 -- a fun-packed track day at Buttonwillow Raceway on May 26th. Cost is only $210 per driver (sorry folks, the track prices went up everywhere this year). As always, our events will include morning coffee service, a supply of water and Gatorade, snacks, catered lunches, and at least two hours of track time! Also, new for this year, we have a dedicated team of instructors to help out not only the novice drivers, but folks at the intermediate and advanced levels, as well! Our instructors will be going through training in March, to make sure we are all onboard with exactly what we must do to keep you safe and happy. For complete details, please visit us on the web at http://www.team-racing.org We hope you can join us!!!

Let me know if you guys ever need instructors. I have lots of recent experience at Buttonwillow, Laguna Seca and some at Thunderhill - and I've been around Sears Point, Willow Springs and others a few times, too.
Bonni, good to see that you're advertising here! (I had a miata turbo last year and you were my instructor at T-Hill) I hope to make some of your events; they were well organized, safe, and tons of fun!

Here is a splice from an email that I sent to one of your fellow Z drivers just today . . .
We hand-select instructors based on their history with us -- this is our
first year of comping them. In the past, folks have generously volunteered
their time to help us out. We do not charge much, which is why we've always
asked for volunteers in the past. For this year, we are giving instructors
their own slot of track time, as some of the advanced groupers have
complained that 'so-and-so' is driving too aggressively. Often, this is an
instructor that they referred to. Obviously, there is quite a difference
between some advanced drivers and instructors, so now we've given them their
own run group. Plus, it keeps instructors from losing track time (hopping
between cars), and it gives them some resting time between the student's car
and their own. This is but one of the things we will be discussing on May
25th at PR Motorsports in Hayward, California (one of our sponsors' shops).
I have had many folks in the past send emails asking if I needed more help,
suggesting their resumes, and so forth. Try to understand that even though
a person may seem genuine, I am wary of trusting what I see 'on paper.' So
what we have done in the past and will continue to do when a new-to-us
instructor asks to come on-board is a type of "interview." We go ahead and
have the person sign up as normal, pay the fees, what have you. We assign
them to a (as in, never more than one) student, watch them throughout the
day, get feedback, etc.. If all goes well, after that, we bring them on and
they get the benefits of being an instructor at future events. This is
really the only way for me personally to establish a high level of trust in
an instructor. I really care about the safety of all of my drivers, and our
instruction program is one of our greatest assets. I hope this makes sense
to you.
The cool thing in one way is that when you sign up with payment and as an instructor, not only do you get the two hours of advacned group track time (during which you gotta 'play nice'), but you also get three additional 20-minutes sessions in the instructor-ONLY group. I know this may seem a little different, but it has worked very well so far, and my number ONE objective is to genuinely keep everyone safe and have a great time.
Let me know how you feel about this so far . . .

Comments like that are why I am still trying to keep my head above water with all this. I have had lots of students, so please forgive me, but I am not sure which you might have been. Last name (you can email me at bonni@weatherwax.net if you would like to keep that private)? Anyway, I'm so glad that I was able to assist you in your endeavors to have fun on the racetrack. And thank you SO MUCH for the kudos on our events. That REALLY puts a bright beacon of light in my sites.
Hope to see you and your new baby (links to pics???) VERY soon.

Bonni, here's the new ride http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...o/IMGP0600.jpg. I had gone to the one of the T-Hill events in Aug '05 w/ my red 1990 miata turbo; you had tried to help me install my harness bar the night before.
I still remember the ride I got in your car going around turn 8...better than any rollercoaster!
