Throttle feel
Add one more to the "must wear proper driving footwear" list. I can't underscore enough the difference a driving shoe will make in one's ability to drive a sports car well.
I wear driving mocs (loafers) to work, then slip on my heavy dress shoes when I've arrived. I have some mid-top Addidas race shoes that work great for weekend canyon fun or at the track. Your ability to feel and apply the precise amount of throttle and brake inputs will become heightened, and the overall driving experience that much more enjoyable.

the shoes i recommend are real sneakers but with thin rubber sole and full leather (not fire proof for serious racing of course) but when u wear it out... its a normal high quality leather oxford sneaker so you wont look ridiculous...
get it?
