Default Cobra Suzuka GT

Looking for feedback if anyone has ever installed one of these seats on a Z.

I really like the fact that it is kevlar reinforced seat, yet is the carbon fiber version worth the money.

+1 - I'm considering both the Suzuka and the Imola II (GT widths). looking for install hints, but more importantly...

anyone know of a retailer who might have them in stock in the DC area? closest vendor I know of is CDOC, which is at least 4 hours away. after going through seat choice for my specmiata, i won't even consider buying one without sitting in it...

I called Sube sports to find out who had them in my area. They said that there is no problems fitting either the Suzuka or Imola GT widths in the Z. I will be going in a couple of weeks to look and sit on them, I will let you know more.

Here is the website:

hmm maybe I should reconsider those seats again, I was going to get a suzuka GT and imola GT for my Z, but was told the shoulders are too wide for the car and would hit the window. And since cobra seats are specially imported, I wouldn't be able to return them.

I talked to the guys at Pole Position, they where willing to ship me a set of Susuka GT now if I bought the technology seats, to have and use until mine arrive. Then they would pay to ship the regular ones back. Maybe they would be willing to sell you a set to try and if you don't like them get a different model? I am going to Kinetix Speed Shop in Atlanta in a few weeks since they have about every race seat made in stock.

Everyone, I bought and installed the Susuka GT seats with a Kirk Roll Bar and G-Force 6 point harnesses. Wow, does this seat communicate everything that is going on in the car. And the seat keeps you in place so well, that I felt really slow on track this past weekend, even though I was passing some GT3's and Turbo's.
I almost have to re-learn how to track this car with this set up, since every little vibration coming through the seat was un-nerving, yet it was nothing but tires on rough pavement.

cool - i've got a pair sitting in the basement ready to go with gforce harnesses as well, just don't have the time to put them in, and have to get the kirk bar ordered first anyway. can't wait to get them in!

can you post some pics of the seat installed? what sliders and side mounts did you use?

No sliders. I am too tall for the Z, so I made some custom brackets so the seat could sit as close to the floor as possible. I will take some pictures and post.

looks awesome! how's the comfort level for day-to-day driving? not that mine see's a whole lot of it, but in my brief test sitting at CDOC (where I got mine from), they seemed pretty good. might not want to do a six hour drive in them, but not too bad.

what did you do with the OEM belts? is the receiver mounted to the rear/inside seat bolt?

I removed the OEM belts - so just the harnesses left.

As far as comfort, these are probably the most comfortable race seats I have ever sat in. Yet, after about 4 hours of driving on the street - I can feel a slight pain in my lower back - no big deal. Yet, on track - you don't move, thus your comfort level is so much higher than the stock seats on the track! And you are so locked in place, that even though I am passing GT3's and Turbo's on track, I feel slow! It is weird, your body being thrown around in the car makes you think you are actually going faster! And the feedback that you get through the seat on how the car is performing make a huge difference. It actually took some getting use to!

MoodDude, I was also thinking about these seats as well. Did you get the technology versions or are the seats in the posted pics the regular Suzuka GT seats? The technology versions are big-buck carbon fiber seats aren't they? Just the regular ones are expensive enough for me.

How do you like the Kirk Rollbar? How does that compare to the Cusco bar? How much weight does the Kirk rollbar add?

How much height does the Cobra 350Z rails and sliders add? More than stock? How tall are you? I am 6'2" and with my helmet on I *barely* fit in my Z with the stock seats/rails.

Good Question - I will try to answer them the best I can:
- I don't have the technology seat - way to much money and they weigh more than the kevlar seats.
- I love the Kirk Roll Bar - but it took me all day to get it into the car. Once in, it looks perfect. Don't know about the Cusco bar, I went with Kirk since I live close to their shop. The Kirk adds on about 55#, but it is a SCCA and NASA legal roll bar - most others are not.
- I didn't install the sliders, just the seats and rails. I made up some brackets so I could mount the seats as close to the floor as possible. I am 6'4" and now I can fit with my helmet on and my helmet is about 1"-2" from the roof.

About the seats - at Road Atlanta - I was able to give several people rides in my car. 5 out of 5 now want to buy these same seats as I have.

Is your Kirk rollbar a bolt-in or weld-in? Does Kirk sell a full roll cage for the 350Z?

My Kirk Rollbar is the bolt in, they do sell a full roll cage for the 350Z.

What is your waist size - that is the main driver if you need the GT or not. My friends with a 38 waist and up cannot fit in the GT seat. I fit perfect with a 36 waist.
