TZC Roebling Road June 16-18... reg now open!!
Hello from the (deep breath)...
Mid-Atlantic Alfa-Romeo Club, Triangle Z Club, and Tarheel Sports Car Club
We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the return of the Southern Fried Track Event being held at Roebling Road Raceway near Savannah, GA June 16th thru the 18th.
New for us, on Friday the 16th we will be hosting our first ever instructor clinic and lapping day for intermediate and advanced drivers as well as instructors. Saturday and Sunday (17th and 18th) we will host our usual two-day HPDE and time trial.
Registration will be handled online through MotorsportReg.com. There are separate registrations for each event, but there is a price break for the Friday lapping if you are participating in the HPDE as well (details below). Friday will be limited to invitees and drivers with a minimum experience of intermediate level with solo experience.
Drivers participating in Friday's lapping day can expect at least twice as much track time as a normal HPDE day at our events. HPDE passing rules and protocols still apply, but instructors will not be provided (must have solo HPDE experience with some Roebling Road experience.) Participants in the instructor clinic will learn what it takes to be an instructor for our clubs. Some may be at a level where we feel comfortable in immediate promotion... others will be invited to attend a mini-clinic at a future event. Others still may be advised to continue to participate in as many HPDEs as they can, gaining more track experience in varying conditions and situations. No matter what, you'll come away with a new found understanding of what instructors go through over the course of an HPDE weekend.
Saturday and Sunday's HPDE will be our normal setup. Four student run groups, three run group rotations, and an optional time trial each afternoon. Instructors will be provided, newbies and seasoned track junkies alike are welcome.
Pricing is as follows: (Member = any dues-paying member of one of the host clubs)
FRIDAY (MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS)
Lapping w/Instructor Clinic: $100 (For students)
Lapping w/Instructor Refresher: $100 (For instructors)
Lapping only (w/HPDE entry): $125
Lapping only (w/o HPDE entry): $175
SATURDAY & SUNDAY HPDE
Members: $260
Non-Members: $280
Time Trial: $30

I have to tell you that this is a very fun track with some great curves. It's got decreasing radius turns and some sweepers that are so much fun. I'd highly recommend it. I'll be there in in April with Seattime and May with NASA, but may also do this. It's loads of fun. I've run it in an Evo too and drifting through the turns in an AWD made me giggly like a school girl!
If you have the chance to run here, please take it, it's great!

To add to your comments about the track... its a very un-intimidating track for the newbies, but it has enough nuance and at-the-limit variety to satisfy the veteren driver too. Not to mention the fact that there are very few areas to damage anything if you go off. It is sandy, so be sure you have a good, fresh wax job...
But its an AWESOME track for the high-horsepower, long-legged cars. The sweepers really give you a chance to work on your throttle steering. About the only time I use the steering wheel on this track is at turn-in... everything else is done with the throttle

You're right. The NASA rate is higher for the two days. I'm thinking really hard about doing this.
Also, for those of you with coilovers, Roebling has a corner weighing area and you should be able to use it to get suspension set right. Make sure to weight the car with you in it.

If you want to take the car out for a few laps, I'll be happy to let you do that. I'd love to drive the Z for a couple laps too.
BTW, I'll have Hoosiers on the RX-8 so it'll hopefully be really sticky!

I'm still open to you guys having a party at the shack (my garage) when you come down?
I would be participating but have since sold the 350Z and doubt my 300zxtt will be anywhere near ready for track use (hell I hope its sold before then).

Not sure if you want everyone there, but I think setting up something with the Z people in attendance would be very cool.

BTW... to revisit the previous question about pricing for TrackHoRx8 (and anyone reading this thread for that matter)...
Lets just say that if you sign up for our event, especially considering the competition that weekend (which I'm not obligated to say what that is)... and you use the member pricing option on MotorsportReg.com ... I'm not going to split hairs about the $20 difference.

Mike... I'd love to set something up for Saturday night. We'll be there Friday thru sunday, but Thursday and Friday night we'll be doing event check-in/registration most of the night.

I find that most sports car enthusiast are quality people. So everyone would be invited from the event that wanted to join in. It will be in the garage so its not like I am worried about spilt beer. And there is plenty of room to park so even guys with trailers would have plenty of room. Saturday night is good with me as well. Just pm me to work out the details of food, drinks etc...
