Default Control arm , tie rod or both

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....hlight=wrecked

Got into an accident and right wheel was toed out bad! Went to get an alignment and they said it was too far out for adjustment to help. They said it was a control arm bent, but could it be a tie rod or both or something else? I posted in this forum as you guys might have more experience in suspension problems. The fender and headlight were pushed into the wheel and tire but not with tremendous force, rim barely has a dent in it. I've got the control arm off but I don't see and obvious bend in it. Can a slight bend make it pull hard right? Please chime in!

I hate to say it, but you need to check that Z out on an alignment machine before spending more time and $$ on it. You mentioned there was no frame damage, but how do you really know? If you bent the wheel (at all) there was quite a bit of kinetic energy traveling through your car. It could be the control arm, it could be the tie rod or it could be the pickup point or ?? The point is, you won't know without having it put on a precision frame machine with a experienced body man doing the work. I know it's expensive, but if you want your Z to drive perfectly, you need to get it done.

Yeah, thats probably the way to go but just seems avoidable. I mean the headlight(Clear housing) didn't even break and the only piece of metal bent was the bracket(part# 62520-CD000)that holds it. I believe its just a tie rod and maybe control arm. I would compare it to more of a curb check then a wreck as far as trauma to the car goes. But thanks for the bad news anyway!

Getting the car checked out on an alignment machine isn't expensive, about $100 if nothing is wrong. That way you aren't spending hundreds on parts that you don't know will fix it.

I would start there for peace of mind.

Well, Ive got the car at a wrecker service(owned by my stepfathers buddy) and the parts that were bent were the two lower control arms and the spindle. They did mention that the pick-up points were fine. The adjuster is coming back out to take a look... so all is well. I was able to get the body parts for free so I'm one up on the insurance company! Thank god there was no frame damage. https://my350z.com/forum/showthre...hlight=wrecked

Keep tabs on this thread above to see the results of the car. I'm adding a Vader front lip along with painting the chrome headlight trim PPW and going with hyper yellow bulbs! Some might think these changes wont look good but when placed in this situation, I think you try to take advantage of every option. I can say this, it pushed the Turbonetics kit back a bit

those uper a arms are pretty flimsy. my dealer showed me one. the casting is very cheap and they bill bend out at a seconds notice. if your lucky the arm took the hit and the mounts are still in the correct place and not hurt. mabey nissan finally did something right on the car.
good luck.
