Default Autocross prep.

Hey guys. I'm planning on participating in my 1st event this weekend and someone mentioned taping up my car (to prevent damage from cones). Have any of you heard of this? Do you guys do this?

tape the lower front bumper if u care... but the cones automatically collapse under the car so it doesnt really hurt anything...
its just a rubber cone...
btw
first lap/run
go slow and learn the route

I see ppl tape the front L/R bumper and the portions just before the rear tires...when I've hit cones, no marks were left - so I've never spent the time to tape.

If you have a good coat of wax most cone marks will rub off easily. My car has seen more than it's fair share of cone abuse, and has the scars to prove it.

I keep a bottle of Egale One detailer in my autox bag. It's a lot easier to put on than tape (and you just wipe it off), and any cone marks buff off real easy. Helps to use it under you magnets too to prevent scratches, and I've never lost one to the wind (or is it that I'm just that slow?). BTW: I think you got the locations right.

Good coat of wax.

Turtle Wax Gel Bug and Tar remover spray for those cone marks that make it to the car.

Thanks for the advice guys. I picked up some Scotch-3M 2" blue tape(for delicate surfaces) I figured I'd rather be safe than sorry for my 1st event. Not to mention that my car is Chrome Silver and will prob. show marks worse than other cars.

I honestly didn't even think about this until someone else mentioned it...I've been more concerned w/ the important stuff.(mods and driving technique)

Thanks again.

That's some funny shiet. My ex-brother-in-law<, ...who was a douche bag, was the spokesman in the commercial for this stuff. I never used it though.

This is a stupid newb question but, Is there any way that you could chip the paint w/ a cone? If not I'll just make sure that I have a good coat of wax like you said and maybe use something like the gs27 stuff.
