Hmmm how to sum it up quickly? *** kicked? That works.
We got our asses handed to us at the ProSolo this weekend.

LOTS of Ice Mode, and LOTS of tire spin. Not a good weekend to say the least.

Some videos, more to come. No audio, couldn't get the mic working this weekend.

Currently only my runs 1,2,and 11,12 are posted. 11/12 have some studdering problems, I think I have to reencode them when I get home.

Sorry to hear that Chris. I really be interested in the vids, as I experienced a bit of ice mode myself today, and it scared the crap out of me.

We ran our first PE in CKR at the training pad (same site as on the 30th if you make it down). I finally got the optional slalom right and came in really hot on the turn around (falls away off-camber). Normally I'm nose-down breaking hard and straight before I begin to rotate the car on this element, but when the pedal when brick-hard, I was going to just keep on sailing, so I trew it sideways and kind of drifted it through till I got the speed back down. Wasn't fast at all, but the corner workers really got a kick out of it.

I was leading the class on the first three runs by about a second (and on the stock Potenza's too), but the M3 found a new line and waxed me on the last run even though I'd picked up another .6 by then. Racing on this "limited budget" thing may make me faster in the long run, but I really miss the grippy tires.

Drop me a PM and I'll send back my cell number. Maybe I can give you the skinny on the later event this month. BTW: Pre-registration opens Monday the 17th, but I can make sure you're reserved a spot if you do get to make it.

No, I don't believe they do, but don't have first hand experience in a track model to know.

I'm also not sure if the 06's experience this, I believe all models have bigger brakes for 06.

Chris...were did the tire spin come from? Was the course that different from the Tour?

The course was, to say the least, very tight. I was downshifting to first in the last turn before the finish.

The course started halfway up the pavement, one course went left, one went right. So imagine three switchbacks in the width of the course that had a single turnaround for the National Tour.

The event ran great, the only complaint would be the course being a lot tighter than the Z would have liked.

I've hit ice mode once in my 2005 track Z. Bump just before the braking zone triggered it (the front tires were still slightly unweighted).

Don't try it... Once you go 8 you wont go back.

I know where there is a nice 968 for sale.

Chris.....it is hard to believe that with all that space to work with that they had a tight course. The Eastern Pro Solos have gone way down hill in the past few years.and I don't know why.

Well, it looks like we're ordering new parts

I'll post more in a few weeks after we decide what we're doing and how we're going to beat those pesky 8's

I had thought that ice-mode was induced by the g-sensor (heavy transition within a breaking zone), but since my automatic Z doesn't have one, that can't be it. How does the computer determine to take over here? I'm going to do a little digging on this one, just to get some answers.

I'll be really interested in what you do with the Z for the tighter courses. Due to the size of most of our sites, I usually feel like a bull in a china shop (or is that a Z in Miata land?)
