true, but suggesting is just as bad as thinking or doing it. Towing something like that with a z puts your life and the life of others in danger. All it take is for the mounts to sheer and then thered be a 3000lb weight rolling wherever it wanted.

sometimes ya gotta set the oldtimers straight.

i think he was curious more than anything.. he was just asking a question. the only one that actaully thought about doing it was that one guy who suggested he should try!

anyways, back on topic and the conclusion - do not try.

the chasis just isn't designed for it. towing is probaly one of the last things nissan decided this car should do. maybe you can think about buying/renting/borrowing a truck, even if the motor can do it, the frame of the car will probaly just bend, aluminum is meant for weight, not for towing

Be better to just buy a truck to do it. Even if the Z could, why would you? You could carry a few more support items easly with a truck.

It actually isn't unreasonable since there isn't a published towing capacity

yea, the Z does have the motor to pull stuff, but the frame, and everything ELSE about the car is built for the track.. not pulling...

lol, was asking a simple yes or no question and got some cracker going off on his own. Grow up man, this is a forum, it's a place for questions and answers, if you don't have the manners to answer a question without a smartass remark, then you shouldn't be reading the entire thread.

It's not a bad question at all. I certainly learned how much a Z can tow, which I didn't know until I visited this thread. It CAN tow, but probably only a couple of motorcycles or jet skis.

I wouldn't be surprised that if some modifications to the chassis, suspension, and brakes (if non-brembo) were done, it could tow an S2000. At that point, it becomes less expensive and more practical to buy a used truck.

UHaul has regular pickup trucks you can rent for like $75 a weekend....seems like a good idea.

The z is not designed to tow 3k lbs of stuff. You can weld a hitch on there that could tow a million tons, but the z isnt setup for it. You have to figure in brake fade (stopping 6klbs is alot harder than 3k) and your clutch/transmission.

Seems like youve got money, but no brains.

According to the owners manual, it can tow a 1000lb load with 10% tongue load.
So, a motorcycle but no cars...
