Default Torque wrenchs

Eventually, everybody needs to use a torque wrench. Here's a chance to get one (or more) reasonably cheap. I ran across an ad in today's paper from Sears - $48 for torque wrenchs that are usually over $70.

Not really wanting to knock HB (they've gots lots of good stuff), but I have several friends that use the torque wrench you mentioned. It seems fairly accurate, but he settings do tend to drift (moving handle), so check your setting as you go. Other than that, it's a perfect tool for such a cheap price.

I too have a Craftsman torque wrench that has a broken locking collar. Can I just return it to the place where I purchased it (SEARS) and get a new one?

i'm not saying anybody should buy the HF torque wrench.. i personally won't buy anything other than a craftsman tool. decent quality decent price and lifetime guarantee.

yes, i returned my torque wrench to the store i bought it from and they exchanged it for me.

Used to be, the Craftsman lifetime warranty did not apply to torque wrenches... they only had a 1-yr warranty. Maybe that's changed, or maybe you found a "salesman" who didn't know any better.

Good luck!!

now that you mention that --

the guy said the lifetime doesn't cover the torque wrench, but he said he'd exchange it for me anyway.

sorry. just find a nice guy or say you lost your receit and purchased it recently!

I had read that post some time ago, and found it a good head up for people how don't have one yet.

And then MY torque wrench just died at MidOhio...

Thanks DavesZ#3 !
