Angry G35 and NSX get taken out by EVO driver at Pocono East

Hey guys, sorry if this is a repost, but I didn't see it anywhere, and it needs to be very clear that crap like this is completely unacceptable...

In short: Idiot #1 driving EVO refuses an isntructor, all reports are that fellow drivers on track were trying their best to stay away from this guy as his driving was very aggressive, erradic, and dangerous (BTW... there is an Idiot #1a, the person who LET this guy refuse an instructor, or didn't get/check any references if that is what happened)

Idiot #2 driving the Audi (with in-car camera) goes through three different instructors over the course of the event becuase no one could get through to him. Culminating in this blatant display of complete and utter stupidity... oh yeah, I should mention these guys are buddies in the Brotherhood of Stupid and he was trying to video the whole thing...

Idiot #3 ... whomever decided to grid cars up this close to a hot track without any safety barrier (quite possibly the same person as #1a)

Be sure to read the whole thread (I know, its long) but the instructor in the Audi posts exactly what was happening (she gets ribbed early for grabbing the students steering wheel, but you'll see in the video it's after they are stopped, and when you read her post, you'll find out she was trying to get him either back on track, or back onto the pit lane, away from the accident)... also note when the music gets dubbed into the video - obviously so you can't hear the instructor giving him a piece of her mind about what he's doing.

Did anyone notice our old 350Z member on page 4 defending walls? I thought that was honorable!

I remember that member...that was a long time ago! He had an altercation with a wall that pretty much totalled his Z.

Yeah, he went off at Buttonwillow the same exact way this EVO driver did... dropped a wheel in the dirt, over corrected, car came back too quick, corrected back and spun into the pit lane wall backwards... I believe his car was totaled, I ended up with some of his performance parts which he parted out

Damn condolences to the NSX owner.

That rare car is probably totalled...and getting a replacement or full reimbursement is going to be no joke.

I'm honestly more shocked the organisers actually staged cars for the next run group so close to a running track w/o barriers!

I'm not approving the lack of instructorship/driving of the Evo, but accidents (or mechanical) will happen to even the best of us, the same thing could have happened to an experienced dirver. That track formation is unacceptable IMO.

Stack,

Can I safely assume Mr. "Iflysolo" will be turned down for admission to our events?? Not sure he would even be safe in the paddock.....

Thanks,

Alan

Well... unless someone can PM me with a name or an email, the best I can do is tell everyone that we're keeping our eyes peeled. My guess is that our events are structured in such a way as to deter people like this from signing up for our events. So far that has been the case. We've had a handful of people show up expecting open track, or expecting that just because they've soloed at someone else's events they're automatically solo'd at ours based on their word... they don't stick around very long.

Plus, you know that we do everything we can to prevent senseless risks (like gridding cars like that). We like to take all the 'preventable' things out of the risk equation. Case in point: after realizing the hard way that it was VERY reasonable to think a car could leave track left after the Kink at CMP and end up in the trees way track right near the pit straight... we told CMP we would not come back until they installed some protection, and they did.

That was some **** poor thinking about where they grided the cars. Not to mention the camera driver decides to just pull over.

Reminds me of when I was at Roebling, I was following a freind in his Z in my Z coming threw turn 5 when a s2k spun out in front of us and stayes on track. Which we had plenty of time to stop but the guy just sat their blocking the track for a good minute and then pulled off to the right right past turn 5 (you know where everyone spins out and off) and the corner worker was going nuts trying to get this guy to move. Need less to say they did not allow him to run any more that day. But the main concern was traffic behind us came up hard before they realized what was going on. I'll have the video some where.

We have actually received 2 to 3 emails of people to look out for lately. Seems to be a growing trend
