Tire Pressure for V710's
I have been running 35 to 37 lbs hot but tried running 32 to 34 and found faster times. What is other peoples experience with optimum tire pressure for Track- Road Course?
What were the track and ambient temperatures?
I’m new to running R compounds (Toyo RA1 in my case) and had the whole tire pressure thing all wrong from using street tires. Luckily, I had someone with good experience with me yesterday at MidOhio to set me right.
Anyways, the warmer the track gets, the lower your “pit hot” pressure should be in order to maintain the “track hot” pressure the same. Assuming the temperature and pressure goes down while we’re doing our out lap.
For what it’s worth, since I’m on Toyos, I went from 30 psi morning cold which translated to 42psi “pit hot”. We then lowered them to 38psi “pit hot” and found out it was much better. Didn’t have time to try lower, but since I can’t adjust camber I doubt I’d see much benefits.
It was sunny a MidOhio with ambient temps 90-95F.

I started my Cups wit 35 psi cold, they got up to 41 psi hot front and 40 psi hot rear at Roebling last week. I lowerd my front to 39 psi hot since I wasn't using all the tread on the front.
