AutoX Tires
Why SCCA allows race tires in B Stock is beyond me. If you don't drive to the event on your autocross tires, you shouldn't be running in stock!
Please don't reply, defending the 710's and their ilk. I don't care about DOT this or that. Everyone knows they're engineered cheater tires.
Bitter much? Yes. And I don't even have anyone using race tires in B Stock in my region!
Edit: Almost forgot the main point of this thread. Yes, +1 for Falken RT-615 or perhaps even Kumho Ecsta MX. I used the Kumhos in 245/40/17 all around. They were great, and lasted for almost one year - probably around 16 autocross events and ~90 runs. And now I have some 255/40/17 RT-615's.

Rosko - don't be bitter. I've seen that sore subject discussed in great length here and on several other forums. Right now, I'm not competing against anybody with race tires but last year when the S2000s were in BS, the top drivers all had race tires, sways, etc.
I'm hoping to put off the jump to race tires until it really becomes necessary - being beat by somebody with race tires.
It's almost unanimous - Falken RT-615s are the way to go.

Let's start a letter-writing campaign for an STU2 class!
Not that I don't like my Z in B Stock (and I think that it can do very well), but it would be nice to have a place to play without spending cubic dollars to run in SM2 or BSP (against the "unlimited boost" Subarus and Evos -- not to mention the mega-HP-and-torque Corvettes).

Yesterday I covered about 300 miles and did two events, San Diego and LA, all on my R tires. The almost two hour drive from SD to LA did not even clean all the turds off of my sticky tires.

I put more miles on my Rs than the serious ST guys put on street tires out here. They trailer a lot of the top ST cars or change tires at the event, don't want to waste the shaved Advans driving on the street. Those that do drive spend a lot of time before and after the events changing alignment for the drive home. So far I see ST as way more work than stock. One of the STU guys tells me he is on his 3rd set of shaved tires this season.
Yeah, that's a problem -- more adjustability means more work to figure out what works.
Maybe I'll eventually get an F500 (F Mod) and tow it behind the Z.
Mod classes really are the cheapest over the long-term, especially if you buy a car that is already set up...
