How's married life? Hope you're enjoying yourself.
Well, Steve, I have already figured out that the cost of mods has doubled.
One dollar for car parts= One dollar for "sparklies".
As long as I stick to that formula, I should be able to get anything for the car that I want.

LOL.... Yep, that's about how it works! I have the same issues at home. I guess that's part of the deal.

Mr. A, thanks for posting the pics (I think!). I actually don't have any K&N products on my car any more, but that's one of the prime sponsors of the race, so we are obligated to run with their decals.

As for being a sick car, well, the exterior isn't that much different from stock, but it's what you CAN'T see that REALLY makes it sick!

The greenhouse design of the car actually reminds me of the Focke-Wulfe 190 fighter from WW II.

Thanks! But it's nothing so special. No big wings or body kits. I have the OEM aero kit (with small front and rear spoilers) and the mud guards. I added the black front lip for more down force, and dropped the car with different springs, so it is lower than stock. I guess it just has a good, clean look to it from the side. Of course, maybe the wheels, brakes and maybe the mirrors make it look a little different - I never liked the stock wheels. But Nissan did a pretty good job in the design studio to start with. I have always liked the side view the best.

You're right, Ed. I built one of those FW190's as a model when I was a kid. It almost has that F-16 canopy shape to it (if you compare it to a modern plane).

AWESOME!

Speaks well for the FI reliability as well.

Not a surprise the Option kids "blew up" again. They ran out of gas the first year in a GT-R, then totalled the first Z33, then finished the next year, then CRASHED AGAIN the next year after the one mile shootout. Too many nice tuned cars crashed! Morons.

-------

Any chance you plan on competing in a faster class? Glad you finished without troubles... Congrats!

Yeah, Daijiro Inada has no luck at this event. But some of that is his own fault (maybe most of it).

I would love to run in the Unlimited class next year. If Mraturbo can get a car together, I think we can win that class! Now that would be a REAL feather in the cap for VRT!

There is no question that with the JWT on a built motor you can deliver the power to propel the car at speeds sufficient to be competitive in the unlimited class. The big challenge will be thermal management. We have worked a lot of that out, I think, with the barrier and dispersal coatings, larger radiators and expanded oil capacities, modified filtration systems, vented hoods, etc. on my car. I do think that one thing that has not been worked out but should be is a more advanced aerodynamics package for dealing with the sustained incrementally higher speeds. That is a long time to be exposed to the influence of outside elements and the need for capacity to make corrective inputs under control. On a race track 170 mph is not a big deal...wind is typically not such a big deal at Cal Speedway for example, nor is road surface condition. That is so totally not true on a 90 mile run across the countryside. You are going to need some real downforce to make sure you keep your fanny on the asphalt and not ricocheting off cactus and rocks.
The difference, as you of all people truly know, between 120 and 140 is nothing compared to the difference between 160 and 180mph. If you are serious, the aero tuning is going to be a big issue.

C-West baby! Track tested, racer approved.

I have been considering the C-West long nose kit (front and rear bumbers). I already have a REAL wing now for rear downforce (but this may need to be modified somewhat to reduce drag).

Alternatively, Kognition Design may have something in the works... but I don't want to steal their thunder here.

The main concern for me is gearing. To run at 200+, the gering needs to be higher (lower numerically). I think Mark (of VRT) and I may have solved this issue with a product from a local vendor there in San Diego called Gear Vendor. Kind of a 7th gear overdrive. Not cheap (it would be several thousand $), and it would require custom drive shafts and a custom install, but I think it would solve the problem.

Mike B., we need you to work your magic to get us some sponsorship for this effort!
