I just talked with the owner yesterday, they are still in business. They are moving the website to another hosting facitilty and the transition has not been too great. I have one of their harness bars and their fire extinguisher's. Sadly, I even got to use the fire extinguisher last year.

Anyway PM me if you have any questions.

you could PM him at the chicagoz site, or I could relay your communication to him. Send me a pm if that is what you want to do.

I was looking at that photo and it sure looks like you mounted the brackets incorrectly. It looks like you have the "L" pointed away from the window, when they should cup that portion. It might just be the photo. If, however, that is the case, it might be the reason why you don't feel it is too stable.

Just a thought.

I see what you are talking about. It looked like there was only one way to mount them, but I will take a look and see if it is possible to swap them left for right.

what do you mean by 'cup' that portion? If you mean the bar should follow the roofline, then the belts would be positioned too high making the angle relative to the body too steep to be very effective.

With that Sparco bar, the reason its not stable is that it does not have any other supports for rigidity. If the BCR bar had the sparco thickness, it would seem to at that point have most everything going for it (outside of roll-over protection).

The sparco model, IMO, is flawed because the leverage from 15-25 G's of load in the event of an impact might be enough to swing it around the only two points of attachment. Again, making it useless in terms of a harness mounting point. IIRC, they don't make this bar anymore... maybe thats why, I don't know.

If you knew you were going to be in a huge wreck tomorrow, would you buy a harness bar or a roll bar?

Sorry....couldn't think of the right description. Look at the bracket that mounts to the seatbelt hardware. It should be flipped so that it cups the pillar. His setup has it so they bracket doesn't do this. I think that is causing the stability issue.

Either neither or both.

I think you are correct about the brackets being mounted on the wrong sides. I should be able to fix it this weekend. Good eye. That should also make it impossible for the bar to flip around as Stacy suggests, though the mounting angle of the bolts makes the scenario highly unlikely.
