Default Ferodo pads - #145- for track???

My Carbotech track pads on my AP fronts are on there last cycle for a track day.

I have the Ferodo 145 pads that came with the set 3 years ago. Back up for HPDE track use in a pinch? Anybody know how hard these are? Are they street or track pads?

I tried to look them up but could not find them.

Depends on how hard you track. I used the 2500 originally for track use and these are probably fine if you are running a street tire. I prefer to use the DS3000 with my Toyo RA1s. They definitely are better suited to harder track use, much stronger initial bite.

Garantee it's better than the steel backing plate of your worn pads!

Thanks for the counsel. I run Toyo RA-1's so I guess I had better order some new pads. Looks like new rotors too, got small cracks in the Stillen cross drilled slotted rotors. Time to go to just slotted for the 13" rotors I guess.

Thanks - on to Talledega Grand Prix road course this Friday for the Z Nationals - Looks like that group has done a great job of putting an event together.

Get plain rotors if you can! Even slotted ones will crack, plus they wear down your pads much faster.

Get dedicated track pads with plain rotors. You won't get pad fade and it'll last much longer.

I would get nothing short of the 3000s for the track. I run the 3000s in the front of my Z and they are fantastic. This last weekend I ran my stock EVO 8 MR at the track with StopTech slotted rotors, SS brake lines, Motul RBF600, and the DS2500s and they burned up and left uneven pad deposits on the front rotors after two sessions at a track thats not really hard on brakes.

Pads must be bedded in correctly in all cases.

Things get messy otherwise...

100% true. The pads and/or rotors should come with bedding instructions. Still, that doesn't help if you overheat the pads.
