Helmet Painting
I just bought myself a new Bell M4 helmet (SA2005), and I'm thinking about getting a custom paint job.
Have you had yours painted, and can you recommend a good artist? Someone in the Baltimore/Washington area would be ideal, but is not strictly necessary.
I've googled and found a bunch, but I'm interested in the personal experiences and recommendations of folks here.
Thanks.

Slight hi-jack.
Look into doing vinyl graphics over a painted design. You can change and repair vinyl much cheaper and easier than paintwork. Just my

He's in the DC area and does some sick work on cars. Don't know if he's branched over to helmets yet.

its not the cheapest let me start off by saying that, but it is the best. I am in the racing community and have seen some troy lee's, smart, jcb-creations, but no one compares to the detail of lucky design. I just ordered my next helmet from them, a bunch of my friends that race karts have their helmets and let me tell you their work looks like a computer painted it onto a helmet. By far some of the most attractive helmets around. Their website is www.luckydesign.it
In your case you'd have to ship it out to them, and then get it shipped back. But you can also buy from them if you havent got the new helmet you need/want yet for anyone else reading this. The only other drawback i see is that they dont speak fluent english, so communication about the design you want needs to be simple but precise avoiding complication, and they take a good amount of time to get it done. Roughly 3-5 months start to finish. But if you havent heard of them, definately go check them out.
Oh yea, they paint some of the F1 guy's lids too!

Troy Lee Designs also sells stickers. You can get them in most motorcycle shops or from the web site. Also, if you've got a good vinyl guy, they can sometimes get the vinyl to stick on the curves of a helmet.
The only helmet I have had painted was by Troy Lee Designs when I was sponsored by them for BMX racing. The did an absolutely incredible job and that helmet stood up to a lot of abuse, and I do mean a lot lol.
