New Aero Mods
Eagle - where do you find the time to write all this stuff? I am very impressed with the thought process and detail of everything you say. I get about 5 min to read and respond.
Nice to see others adding aero parts to the car for track use. My aero gets me on the power so early, I can just touch the brakes on intial turn-in @ Turn 1 at Road Altanta (doing about 135 mph to 145mph) and get back on full throttle, that there was nothing that I couldn't catch by turn 2. And definitely can tell a difference on turn 12 doing 110mph at turn in this weekend (and anyone can tell you that doing anything over 90 mph at turn 12, you better trust your car).

Ed, did you ever get a G2X and do some data logging pre and post wing? I'd be curious to see how it plots out.
I'm kind of glad I brought my car back down to 'near stock' for this season. Actually, it's my wallet that's happy more than I am. I want a big wing too!

I did get it, but have not installed it yet. that is a priority as the season is about to begin.
MoodDude:
I write my little bits late at night or weekends, like most of us as a stress relief or escape from all the other goodies life is letting us juggle. It is therapeutic in some respects, but also, having come along as all of us do through the bewildering jungle of conflicting facts and opinions, if there is something I can do to help fellow enthusiasts out I like to do it. And to tap into the knowledge base out there when I need it too.
MikeB:
the gussets have to have an effect. Numerous cars have them, either molded into the CF, or brace arms with turnbuckles...etc. Everything in the airflow will have some impact. Not having the money or time or access to scientific study, my approach is totally empircal observation and trial.
As for the balance to downforce, I think the front lip needs to just be dropped a couple of degrees on the angle of attack...it is too level at the leading edge imo, and Mike A is addressing that as he agrees, having driven the car a few laps too.
Hammad:
Both Mike and I ran 1:45 lap times, but probably were averaging the mid to high 1:46's. Neither of us really got a chance to "get after it" because of the sound issue, so our testing was more abbreviated than intended. I think the car has another two seconds at least for both of us on the track, as we were really being careful. It is hard psychologically to dive into a turn a couple of miles per hour faster than where you have been used to going at the limit. And when we do, we tend to pick a "safer" turn and not go after EVERY turn the same lap!!! Frankly, in the hands of a semi pro or real good driver I am pretty sure a sub 1:40 lap time is easily attained. My times at time attacks and such tend to be three to five seconds off those guys....light years of difference.
The Tech:
long whole grain wild..........or that sticky shirakiku stuff?
