Default New G Owner

Hi all,
I recently bought a G35 and am sadly parting with my ESP Camaro. I've seen a lot of Z's at autox's but not many G's. I'm wondering why that is given the 2 cars' similarities. I can't wait to try out my new ride at the local autox, but since that isn't until early May I thought I'd ask if there were any G owners here that autox. Given a fully modded G35 vs a fully modded Z, are the 2 close in times at all? (not looking to gut my car here, I know its a pig but hey, I think I'll stick with suspension mods for now). What kind of sway/coilover/tire setups do you guys generally run?

Nice to see a fellow G driver wanting to have fun with the car. I have done 3 HPDE track events and an autocross last year in my G coupe. It's tons of fun!! I think we don't see many G's at events because the people who buy the G mainly are in it for the looks, luxe ... as opposed to the audience of the Z which are probably more into the sporty aspect of the car.

I'm still very much a novice, so can't really compare the G to a Z at the track.
One of my instructors at the HPDE had a Z, and when he rode in my G he noted that the seats don't hold you in as much as the Z. Of course, the Z has a 200lb advantage, so that helps everywhere. Other than that, it probably comes down to the driver.

The car is heavier and LONGER. If you are in it on a hardcore basis, why pick one that is already handicapped?

For one thing, you can run a G35 in the STX class and not have to buy R compound tires. The Z is not able to run there. I don't know how competitive it would be, but it's a cheaper option if you are doing suspension and light tuning.

Because I am not in it on a hardcore basis, its more of a hobby and I just prefer having the 2 extra seats. Interesting thought about STX, I'll have to look into that.

Nothing wrong with that, but I wanted to tell you why there are no Gs in autox.
