left foot braking
I was just at 3 days of HPDE and the top instructor took the advanced drivers through the theory of left foot braking. When I first started...they taught you the brake and throttle were only to be used separately and they didn't want you braking while turning. Now in the advanced classes I was being taught how to "trail brake", or braking while starting the turn and also left foot braking with throttle. The instruction was to finish your braking while in the first part of the turn and while you are releasing the braking in the start of the turn you should be transitioning to throttle. Seemless transition and like it was said in another post only do this in turns with no shifts. He showed data from TRAQMATE (sp?) where left foot braking was compared to conventional braking. It showed + 10 mph in the fast turns and maybe + 5 mph gains in other turns! So, needless to say I started working on my left foot braking.
Terry Heath a professional Porsche driver was also there with words of advice. Pretty amazing how these techniques can make such a difference. PS- here's a picture of Terry's car. And man was he fast!

Also the Z is a lot more forgiving to drive with its massive torque, it's not as important as a turbo or high revving car that needs to keep the motor spinning.
I think he was making a funny. DO IT c'mon push it. yeah ba chica bow wow yeah.....
