Combo AutoX/Street Tires & Rear Wear Question
I use my 350Z as an infrequent daily driver and frequent autocross toy, but do it all on a single set of street tires. My right rear tire(passenger side) seems to get the worst of it all. The original Bridgestones gave me just under 10K miles before I was at the wear bears (good even wear) at the right rear tire. I replaced all 4 with the Avon Tech M 500. I've gotten about 5K and now my right rear is effectively at the wear bar again (again good even wear). On both cases the left rear retains a couple of 32nds more tread than the right rear. So is this amount of wear normal considering the 05performance model differential setup and frequent autocross use and infrequent daily driving (not really hard use)? Thanks, Rich
I'm not 100% sure with your '05 but did you have it checked for tire feathering issues? Also, you did not mention if you have any suspension mods. Is your Z lowered? Did you get an alignment done after getting new tires?

I go through 2 sets of rears and 1 set of fronts, ( I remount the fronts in the middle of the season.) every year on Kumho MX's. My car lives in the garage and only comes out to play. (-including about 12 autocross events per year) (I do drive about 2K miles, round-trip, every year to ZdayZ but that doesn't wear the tires much.)

Do get an alignement. A single rear tire wear isn't normal, unless your racing ovals...
Thanks for the inputs. My car is bone stock. I don't see any alignment issue as the wear is very even across the contact surface of the tire on both sides. I was guessing that the limited slip works by requiring one tire to spin a little (and hence more wear) before sending the torque to the non spinning wheel. I was just curious to see if some serious autocross and light street use would generate this level of wear. Based upon Z1NONLY and Kolia's input, I think I'm ok. Thanks, Rich

My car's alignment was off since the day I picked it up, just check it out.
The LSD on the Z isnt all that great, so it's not common to have one tire spinning. I also get almost the same tire wear with RA-1s as my Rt-615s doing what you are doing simply because it is harder to spin them!
