***VTR 350z takes 1st pl @ Weatherly, PA Hillclimb!!!***56k Warning
Just wanted to congratulate a friend to the shop and also a shop patron Steve Gilbert/Global Recycling for taking 1st Place @ the 47th Annual Weatherly Hillclimb on June 9-10, 2007.
Steve is a member of a local SCCA chapter and races a BSP prepped 2003 PPW TT 350z built by yours truly =) The car is setup for the Sebring road course in Fl, where Steve will be competing next month, but was put to the test over the weekend during the hill climb. The hill climb also served as a test for our built motor and the JWT TT 700BB road race setup.
His official time was 59.44 seconds and set the record for 1st timers of the event and earned him 1st place overall in his BSP and BP classes which consisted mostly of corvettes. They also gave him an honorary award for accomplishing such a feat on his first time @ the course. Just for the record, there are only 14 other sub 60 second passes, Steve is currently #12 on that list. This further shows the amazing driving skills of Steve and capability of our crew @ Vinny Ten Racing.
Some info about the road course:
Taken from Pennsylvania HillClimb Association (www.pahillclimb.org)...
The season starts and ends with the Weatherly Hillclimbs. These two events are held on the outskirts of Weatherly, PA, a quiet little town that has been hosting these events since 1960. If engineers designed a public road to be a thrill ride, this is it. The hill consists of uphill straights leading into hairpin turns, one called "the Wall" that has to be seen and driven to be believed, followed by a hairpin turn, a short run to another hard right hand turn and then the "Jump" where most cars leave contact with the pavement. From this point the rest of the hill consists of a short straight leading to a long sweeping turn to the finish that tests your tires grip on the road as well as your nerve. This hill is a rush from start to finish.
Length
1 mile
Elevation Change
Approx 340'
Number of Turns
6
