Yeah people have been using all 4 285/30/18 for 2 or so years now.

 

Yes it can be done.

Some people have had issues with the ABS runnig a "square" setup, others haven't had any troubles. You'll fin dtestimonies going both ways.

For fitting in the front, make sure you have the correct offset and rim width combo and off you go!

 

We ran Enkei 18 x 8.5 all around the first year we ran the Z car. Also the same size Kumho 245 tires. Its not a problem. We now run 9" fronts and 10" rears because SCCA changed the rule and now allows that size for a Touring 2 car. Wider is better or as they say size counts.

 

Sport Compact Car put 4 18x9 +30 offset wheels with 275/35/18 tires on all 4.

I'm trying to find (gasp) 4 Mustang Cobra R wheels (17x9 +24 offset) for track wheels. Should fit perfect with 275's. Those wheels can be had for $350 + shipping on Ebay or Mustang forums. Some 275/40/17 NT-01's are around $215 each. Nice cheap track setup.

 

I have a square set up, consisting of 4 18x9 22 offset advan wheels with 20mm spacers at the back and 15 mm on the front. I have 245/40.18's all around and run a degree of camber all around. The setup is terrific. It kills understeer, and there is almost no oversteer. Very neutral and balanced. I did have one vdc issue where it tried to kill me But, it was only once, and I just turn it off if driving hard.

 

I had a problem with aftermarket mustang cobra rims (wrong centerbore, just a smidge too wide / too much offset but they WERE 10.5s lol) but that sounds mint.

I run with VDC off 100% - to the point of thinking I'll just remove the wiring / brain.

PS - test-fit my rears in front, 275/40/18 (street / PS2s) and it seemed fine, haven't DRIVEN on it yet tho.

 

I club race with 17x9 wheels and 275x40 V710 and Nt01's for the past 4 years. My biggist issue was pad bias in the rear to avoid lock up and ABS imbalance.

 

Yes it works great, and may even bring you to oversteer territory. I did some quick searching for you and found these threads:

I run 17X8.5" rim w/ 275/40/17 tires for autoX...this works great for handleing and tire rotation. When I researched what to get last yr, most ppl said to run square for autoX (to help turn in) and possibly staggered for Track days (to minimize the likleyhood of oversteering on high speed corners)

*the front brake rotors have a little bolt that's on the exterior of it which is there to prevent someone from accidentally mounting the rear rims on the front...you'll probably need to remove that.

first - not sure what you mean re: the rotor... but mine aren't stock anyway.

 

if you get aftermarket rims or put on a pair of rear OE wheels onto the front of the car, there's a bolt on the OE brake rotors to prevent this. (I only mentioned this b/c you're thinking of running the same sized wheel all around...so the first time you try out the new wheels, you might run into this problem depending on the type of wheel it is.)

yeah, no OE rotors here hence my wondering "WTF is he talking about" your explanation cleared it up. I've already test-fit my rear NISMO LMGT4s up front and it seems to fit great (under static load) - debating getting 2 more, 6 more (for a staggered street / rain / autox set and a track slicks et) or ...

 

LOL...I know what you mean with all the different wheels you would/could want to get. right now I have 1 set for autoX, 1 for street, my OE set, and another 2 OE rears (for drag racing)...it takes up a lot of garage space.

Yep. I run 17x8.5x4 with ADVAN. Definitely handles different. Definitely handles better. Easier to rotate tires too.

 

i've run two different setups with either 17x9 all around or 17x9.5 all around. Both setups used 275/40/17's. Definitely gets rid of understeer to the point of stiffening up the front sway and loosening the rear to get it balanced. Being able to rotate the tires is a nice bonus.

 

2nd. I run 17x9.5 with 275/40/17s as well. Yum.
