Default for those who tracks and autox their car a lot

For those who race their car a lot, you might want to check the top 4 strut mounting bolts at the top of the car. I have 43K miles on my car, about 400 autox runs and 3000 track miles in a stock car. My car started developing a clunk under braking, I checked my front end over and over, but there was nothing loose. By luck, I decided to tighten a lot of bolts in preparation for my next track event. During my inspection, I found the mounting bolts to be loose. After I tighten them, most of the clunks went away. If you drive your car hard, you might want to check it in order to eliminate clunks and perhaps a strut falling off. After all, it's a Nissan. You never know

Good advice, I'll tighten all the bolts and screws all around... Got some clunking and clicking lately.

Where the strut tower brace connects to the top of the front suspension?

i have 2 track days in on my new 07 G coupe and i have all sorts of creeks and rattles that sound exactly like loose parts. its especially noticable in the city where the roads are real bumpy. i looked at the bolts that hold the struts on top and they don't appear to be loose (no wrench at hand to find out for sure though). are there any other areas that could be causing this? i replaced the pads and forgot to put the little spring steel tabs into the loops on the pads. could this be the reason? i have heard they are there to prevent the pad from moving around, but the car makes noise even while braking. anyone got more input? i have another event next friday and i don't know if i can get it in to be serviced in that time.

You should have thrown some koni's on while you were in there

Just to clarify, are you referring to the bolts that hold the front shocks in? Aren't there only 3 of those?

I belive my upper mounts from unitech use self locking nuts. The torque spec is really low for those nuts too if I recall correctly.

thanks for the post

Easy torquing these nuts guys!

26-30 ft.lb is enough. Don't snap them!
