Default So...I need a hitch and I own a NISMO 350Z

I need a hitch to tow my utility trailer and has 4 275 tires on it and box. What would fit under my back end that wouldn't look ugly. But I also need something that is strong and won't put much stress on the bumper supports themselves. I heard some had ones that mounted to the frame as well but couldn't find any pictures of those.

Any advice guys...Here is a picture of the rear of my car. I would definitely have to cut the black plastic under the car a bit to allow the hitch to come through.

if you need one you need to build one like the one in the hitch thread
its not that tough and i did one. to change it though i would put the lower two bolts closer to the center to minimize any deflection.
the fun part is messin with the rear cover and installing it
you nismo look even more fun

good luck

Here's a better idea- rent a truck and a trailer, throw the wheels in the bed of the truck and trailer your baby! It deserves no less.

There are a couple of old hitch threads. Seek and ye shall find.

https://my350z.com/forum/autocross-road/278058-tire-trailer-and-hitch-install-w-pics-and-write-up.html

that's the post I made after I finished my hitch...I'd guess that you'll have to do something similar b/c your NismoZ has a different bumper fascia.

*at the bottom of my post, I put a link to a bunch of photos - that should give you a general idea of 1 way to make a hitch for the Z.

Don't need that for a 15 mile round trip local autox.

And how you expect me to get my tools, and the wheels to a event 300 miles away? I am not renting a truck and trailer each time. Like other Z owners and s2k, miata, etc owners that race, they tow a small trailer.

u have enough space for tools. Just dont buy R-compound tires.

simple.....and in this time period save up for a truck that u can use to tow ur car.

why are so many ppl opposed to him getting a htich for his Z? It's a fairly common thing to have on autoX cars...like stated above, I've seen it on S2000s, Boxsters, Vette's, 350Zs, miatas. etc, etc...

that is the site i bought mine from. It looks NOTHING like the one in that pic on the page, however. It mounts to the metal bumper under the bumper cover. I only had to cut maybe 4 x 4 section. I could have kept the amount of cutting down but a mistake made me cut more out. It only took maybe 3 hours to install, wasn't hard at all. If you want some pics of the finished product let me know I will see what I can come up with. I pull a 4 x 6 TSC utility trailer, 4 tires, tent, jack and tool box without a problem.

edit: i bought my trailer from a guy that used his Z06 to pull it. my hitch is WAY more stealth then the one in that thread above that First350 used on his car. so to the hitch haters, either you don't race, you don't race worth a ****, or have to much money and should give us poor weekend warriors a little to live off of.

pic of the trailer.....

Anyone know how similar the rear bumpers (or hitch mount points) are between the Z and G?

I have yet to see a G owner, install a hitch like you guys have on your Z, but I definitely am getting to a point where a small trailer would come in handy.

I'm really sorry, I hope your hitch plan goes well, but IMHO... A hitch on a Z is pretty weird. It'd feel weird watching a Nismo Z towing a trailer... Ya know?

Hope all works out well for ya tho. Good luck

Well you see Corvettes doing it. There is nothing weird about it. People who actually use the car for performance and racing use these trailers.

well it was dark tonight when I took the pictures but you will still be able to get the idea...any questions just ask. There are two bolts that come straight in the back of the bumper and two come up from the bottom of the bumper.
