Has anyone had to write a sponsorship proposal before? I am talking with Amsoil about doing a sponsorship for the 2008 autocross season. They sent me an email back, they want me to submit a sponsorship proposal. Just trying to get some advice, not exactly sure how to write one. Thanks for all the help.
do a nice write up on all the stuff done to your car, why u think u deserve it and kiss there a$$ telling them u will go to ANY events within a 500 mile radius!!

take pictures of your car...list what you have done...what you plan to do....tell them how much you like their product....unless it's oil, take pictures of their product (if you have it on the car)
like a business summary for a business loan.
just outline it like you would a presentation

beg...beg.... and beg some more. prolly won't get the sponsor money but should be a good laugh for the company
put forth your most proffesional side, present yourself as a on the road marketing tool for their product. be available, be ready for a "NO"

I think you have gotten some good advice. However, I would change one thing.... You are not building a show car, you are looking for a race sponsor. So limit the what you have done to your car talk, for the most part unless you are talking to a Z guy it will go right over their head anyway. First thing you should talk about is what you have accomplished, and what your goals for the season are. Anyone can mod a car, but if you cant get results you might as well be going to a car show. You don't have to be #1, but get in the trophies and you will look good. Also the more events and more travel you plan to do the better they will like it. Offer to make your car available to them for their events, trade shows, dealers etc, this is also a great way to meet more sponsors.
