Default SoCal race shop needed

Need two things really, and I simply don't know the SoCal area well enough.

(1) Need a store that has a variety of Recaro and Sparco seats available for me to sit in. I think I know what I need, but it's been a long time since I've had the change to sit in different seats.

(2) Also need recommendations on a good fabricators who specializes in safety equipment.

Thanks in advance.

Wedge Engineering fabricate seat mounts: (562)633- 1633. They have seats inside their warehouse from Megan crap to Sparcos, Brides, Recaros, Corbeaus etc...

Super Autobacs have imitation seats on the floor. You can sit in them.. not the authentic ones because theyre on the high part of the shelves. I never asked if I could sit in the real ones.

Technosquare and LCon (nicely TIG welded, this is where Im going next year) for custom rollcages for spec SCCA and NASA

Good info - thanks Paulie. Where is Wedge Engineering? I actually don't need a cage, rather somebody to possibly do custom seat mounts for me (it's a tight fit in my aluminum tub).

Long Beach. Its a long drive for you since youre in SD, but you can set up an appt with them.. takes about 2-4 hours to put em in (2 for one seat, 4hrs for two). 3-4 days to fabricate.

I thought when you said safety equipment you meant rollcages or something. Hope to see the new track car soon.

I'm heading up to LA on Friday to tow the car home, so I have no problem making slight detours while I'm up there... I can't wait to get the thing on track soon as well - haven't seen it since June.

I'd take a serious look at cobra seats. Subesports in Huntington beach is the importer. I believe they carry sparco as well for you to compare. I'm very happy I chose the suzuka over the pro 2000 or evo L after actually driving cars with both for extended lengths. I'm in NorCal but Sube helped me a great deal over the phone and got a seat shipped to their Infineon Raceway dealer for me to try out.

Another good recommendation Dave - I'll have to look into the seat dimensions as I have some significant size restrictions to consider.

John...........are you towing the Z back home, did you buy it from the insurance company. The Lotus' didnt have much in T-2 this year even when driven by experienced drivers. Bob

The Lotus isn't competitive in T2 since you have to add a 200lb. ballast (min weight 2300) - SCCA seems to be scared of the car (why, I don't know since it hits a wall at 90mph anyways). I'm just looking to complete my fun street/track car build at the moment...

Z was totalled beyond recognition and hardly anything was salvagable - I didn't bother buying it back...

In San Diego, you can try JMC Motorsports (formerly Dave Turner Motorsports). They usually have a decent selection of Sparco and Recaro seats to try.
