I will update the drivers and constructor points weekly as soon as the season starts. All picks must be put in before the season begins.

Alright- So I just picked up the F1 Racing magazine, and I though I can give you guys a quick summary of some articles in case you are interested. The magazin is $9.95, so it is a tad bit on the expensive side.
-Singapore (Race say is september 28) will hold the first night race in F1 history. The FIA gave them the "go-ahead." 1602 lights will be set up to light up Singapore's street. Three strict rules will be followed- No light in the drivers eyes (even if they spin... So they don't get dazzeled), Good lighting with minimal glare for good camera imaging, and no blackouts, period.
Ill update more when I get to it.

Indeed. I can't wait. While it would be very hard to pick against Luis in the drivers, anything can still happen, and I'd rather have Kimi repeat. I really hope that Fernando in the new R28 can be competitve. Heikki has some really big shoes to fill and therefore I'm leaning towards Ferrari in the constructors. Kimi and Felipe will be solid for sure, but it should be a great year. A driver's year, without traction control. Did anyone mention yet that Ross Braun has moved from Ferrari to Honda as team principal?. Well he did. Can he bring Honda to the top? As of 6:45 pm PST there's only 89 days 20 hours 13 minutes and 14 seconds to go until Friday practice at Melbourne!!!!
I guess the US Grand Prix is a no go? I must admit since Schumacher left I have paid much less attention to F1 so I never heard the final word on what's up with the Indy race. I'm looking forward to the new season though.
How about just talking about testing times held last week before we pick a F1 champion.
We know how this series runs, just ask Mclaren Mercedes $100 million in fines to the Ferrari team!!!
Also what about the fuel temps in the last race of the season that the stewards chose to take not action against.
And the whiner Alonso.....can't say enough nice things about this aHole, & how he sabotaged Hamilton and Mclaren Mercedes.....then has no choice but to jump ship back to Flavio Briatorre his old boss.
And what the hell does this mean???? Mclaren: (engine: Mercades)
And you are picking a F1 champion in a season that has not even completed winter testing.

I'd suggest the teams with the least amount of upheaval (ie. no driver changes, penalties, etc.) will have an advantage for next year. This means another strong year for Ferrari, particularly with Raikkonen coming off his strong '07 finish. Having Schmacher's input on the car can't hurt, particularly since he's still one of the fastest guys in testing!
Here's my top five guesses:
1. Kimi Raikkonen- Ferrari
2. Lewis Hamilton- McLaren Mercedes
3. Felipe Massa- Ferrari
4. Nick Heidfeld- BMW
5. Fernando Alonso- Renault

I've been an F1 junkie since about 1958. That was back when they were still running front engine cars. As I recall, the first victory with a mid-engine car was by Stirling Moss in a Cooper T43 in Argentina 1958.
I think Ferrari will still be the class of the field.............but remember that Jean Todt is no longer involved with the racing team.
Ross Braun will be fresh after his year off and he may be the shot in the arm that Honda needs. He managed to take Benetton from nowhere to two world championships and then accomplished the same feat at Ferrari only it was 5 times there. So Ross has had a lot of winning experience.
Red Bull could surprise this year since this will be the first Adrian Newey designed Red Bull.
At any rate, the season should be interesting.

Thanks for the post! I already can't wait for the season to start.
I'd like to think that BMW has got to be even more competitive this year and not just competing for 5/6th place.
To continue the discussion, Ross Braun will help Honda but not sure if they'll be able to recover from the disaster that was last year. Honda really fell off and watching them throughout the season it didn't seem like they were able to figure out why (chasis, engines, drivers, etc.) Ruebens looked much worse than a lot of the other drivers on the grid - I thought for sure his skill would compensate for some of the problems (they didn't).
As far as the fuel temps from the last race of the season, what a joke that didn't get more publicitiy... I think that was a case of Bernie and the FIA not wanting more negative attention - or allowing Lewis to win through the backdoor (though that wouldn't have needed to be the outcome).
Finally, does anyone know if the ROC in Wembley is on US tv anywhere live? (sorry a little off topic, but relative)

What was impressive was his 91 sportscar championship.
No rookie will win the wdc; JV found out the hardway on 96 in Suzuka after they failed to tighten the wheel nut properly
I simply refuse to believe the race engineers at Mclaren are that stupid to leave LH out there on worn tires for 2 laps AFTER Kimi has passed him already. No one on this planet with any sort of racing knowledge is that big of a retard.

Please, I request that you don't get to hyped on insulting people. I know that testing isn't completed, and all this sh*t still needs to be done before even considering a decent choice in the F1 championship, but im just assuming. Please, keep this thread light hearted!

FIA cancels 2008 McLaren hearing The FIA has announced that the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) has agreed to cancel next year's hearing into the report on McLaren’s 2008 car. The meeting had been scheduled to take place on February 14, 2008.
Last week, McLaren admitted that leaked Ferrari data had been more widely disseminated within the team than they had previously thought and publicly apologised. In the statement, the squad also promised to suspend development of systems on their 2008 machine that might have been inspired by the Italian team’s confidential information.
As a result, FIA President Max Mosley asked members of the WMSC for their consent to cancel the hearing and draw a line under the matter.

It'll be interesting to see where Renault goes in '08. With Alonso and more development, they might be better. But they were pretty far adrift this year and it usually takes some time get aero and mechanical packages to such a refined state.
BMW should be looking to consolidate their position for '08. They've got a solid driver lineup and a win has to be on their wish list for the coming season.
if it is a rainy F1 season then kimi easily but if its the same as last year then it should be a damn good season. LH will put up a fight as well as Massa. but you also have kovolainen which is an amazing driver. i dont think piquet jr will win, due to him having a crap teammate but it will be fun to see what he can do. defintely a fresh talent. kimi will take first, but as much as i like massa i dont think he will finish second. as far as constructors go, ferrari. they have a great team and have worked out the mechanical kinks from last season. renault can posissibly finish second. dont forget, teh cars will be faster, new ground effects this year.

Even with all the turmoil, I'm gonna buck the trend of this thread and say it'll be McLaren's year in 2008 (or at least Hamilton's).
With two young, outstanding drivers (Kovolainen made a name for himself as the "best of the rest" as they say), and frankly, a team/owner with something to prove... I think they are the team to beat. I think Hamilton will learn from the mistakes he made in 2007 (and lets face it... he should be getting a HUGE Christmas gift from Kimi this year!)
I'm interested to see how Bourdais does in F1. Hopefully he can buck the trend of US Open wheelers who have fallen flat on their faces in F1. I'd love to see a three team fight for the championship... but I don't know that BMW or Renault can make up the gap this year. I think if one or both of them DO get in the mix, it will play right into Hamilton's hands for the driver's championship.
FWIW... my pics:
