My 615's do much better "cold" than my MX's did. I say "cold" because I live in SW Florida and cold is a relative term.

BTW: I am running a .6" drop with RS-R springs (that's where the -camber came from) and Hotchkis sways full soft rear, and staggered setup between the two middle holes in the front.

And a Quaife LSD.
Good info. I'll make try these changes and see how I fair next month. Thanks all again for your help.

If you are thinking of trying my sway bar settings, you may want to look at the thread I made on it. Staggering the front (or rear) bar is an odd way to go, but it got my Z's balance right where I wanted it.

Just got back from our March autox, guys. Let me say - thumbs up. I changed the sway bar to full soft last night, then started the tires at 35RR/39FR. It felt pretty good, but was pretty easy to oversteer before they were warmed up. After the first run, I adjusted to keep the rears at 39, and dropped the fronts to 34. The car was very neutral most of the way, and was very controllable, yet experienced the slightest amount of drift during a constant-throttle high-speed sweeper (~52mph). I think this is about the most I can get out of the car given its current set-up, but feel it would respond greatly to the Eibach springs I bought for it and either the Koni yellows or D-spec shocks I've been looking at. I wish Bridgestone made the RE-01R in sizes larger than 255/17! Anyway, given the large delta in prices for the two sets of shocks, can anyone chime in on their feelings for both set-ups?

Thanks again.

Default Tire size question

Have a question for the guys running RT-615s. I will be running in local auto-x events in a street tire version of BS so have to run the stock 8"/8.5" wheels. Wanted to know if I would be able to get the 275/35s 615s on the front rims as wanted to run a square set up. If not how about the 265s? curently running 275/40 and 245/40 tires and not sure how much harder to mount it will be with the lower profile.......

I did do a search but could not find a definative answer......

many thanks

I don't think the RT615 comes in a 275/35/17. They do have a 275/25/18, so assuming that's what you meant, it seems many autox'ers on this board are very comfortable running a 275 tire on an 8" or 8.5" wheel. I've gone with the flow, and bought more 275/40/17s for my 8" front SSR GT1 wheel as the next set of tires.

If you want to use your stock 18" rims and would like to go with a square setup on RT-615s, go with 265/35/18s on all four corners. This size has a reinforced sidewall and you will be faster than any other 18" sizes (RPM is 852 vs 803 for 275/35/18).

Actually, if I was going to get autox tires for an 18" set-up in a 265, I'd strongly consider the (faster) RE-01R in 265/35/18.

The Bridgestones are more than I want to spend right now and I have to question the revs per mile for the Falkens, must be a typo in the spec sheet... the new Dunlop is looking promising though and similar price to the 615s. Car is a 2007 so 18" wheels 8" and 8.5"

thanks for the input.

regards

Actually, given their OD and my own OD calculations, I'm getting 792RPM for the 265/35/18 (they have 852) and 788RPM for the 275/35/18 (they show 803). Maybe I'm missing something about the OD versus the actual rolling diameter...

BTW, I think the RT615s are better than the Dunlops. Tirerack doesn't carry the RT615, so they don't test them, however, check out GRM for their comparison. The only tire to trump the RT615 for street autox is the RE01R.
