Default AutoX tire sidewall wear, when to replace?

Hi, I'm autocrossing my Avon M500 street tires. How do I know when to replace my front tires? My wear isn't from street driving, but rather wear at the corner of the tire (sidewall/tread interface) from autocross. I've still got plenty of life on the tread as I'm not nearly down to the wear bars yet. However I've worn down the treadblocks at the corner of the tire completely. Do I keep using them till I see cord there? Or when I've worn down past the treadblocks on the corner should I move on? Thanks, Rich

so the outside of the front tires are wearing out? Can you flip them on the rims?

*I'd probably just keep running them until there's no tread left...but that's me.

Inner or outer edge? My inner tread block is one continuous slick. The rest is pretty well worn too so I'll be replacing mine in a couple of weeks.

In your case, if you don't want to trash them yet you had better monitor them closely for cord showing.

+1 on flipping them. Just get a quote from the tire shop first, because sometimes they charge a lot- dismount+mount+spin balance. I don't suppose you are in a class that allows you to get adjustable A arms, but that helps some if you can run them.

I hadn't though of flipping them on the rim! All the wear is on the outside edge, so that would work well if the price is reasonable. Thanks! Rich

Make sure that you can flip them. Some tires are marked "Outside" meaning that side must stay out, you can't flip them so it becomes the inside.

See attached.

Something like that you mean? Just keep an eye on them for any showing cords. Otherwise there fine to drive and race on.

GWord 256, YES! Only mine aren't quite as worn. I'm feeling much better now and now I know I've got more autocrosses left in them. Thanks for the photo. I checked and I can't flip them as there is an inside and outside. Cheers, Rich
