I'm thinking about getting a new set of rims and R compound tires for next season. I would love to try my chances against the RX8s that generally dominate B stock in my region.
It depends on what you think the "right call" is.

I'd personally rather get last in a very competative field than win by attrition.
I do, however, think it is quite unfortunate that the Z does not fall into a Street Tire class, Nationally.

What trim is your Z?

I don't see winning against a STI as not being competitive, per the PAX index I should have lost. I do think that running on street tires against those with R compounds would be decidedly uncompetitive. In fact, if you look at the standings for our divisional it's pretty obvious who ran on street tires in the stock classes as they all make up the bottom of the standings. I wish there was a stock street tire class at every level of the SCCA Solo2 program. I posed the issue in the SCCA forums and was lambasted and grilled, but in the end, understood. You can see my posting here.

Sorry about that. I get carried away sometimes!

I'm driving a Touring 6-speed btw.

Oh don't get me wrong, a victory over a Subaru, specifically an STi, is always great! Those bastards are fast. The best part is that you are out there and having fun.

Beating an STI = good. There is one that was beating the heck out of me for the first 4 races this season(compeeting in novice class) but I finally turn the tide yesterday. Hopefully it goes my way for the 2nd half of the season.

@ First350
I already met PDX_Racer maybe I will get to meet you and slowZster one day
